Zika-free tropical honeymoon in October?

Sydney, on January 12, 2018 at 11:36 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

Does anyone have suggestions for a tropical beach honeymoon that is Zika free, warm in October and affordable?

I just looked at the map on the CDC's website. Literally the only tropical locations without Zika risk are Hawaii, Martenique, Guadeloupe, Chile and Uruguay. Everywhere else in the Caribbean/Mexico/South America has a risk.

If you get a good deal on flights Hawaii is a great option. I wouldn't say it's "affordable" but that's where we went and for 10 days we probably spent about $5k-6k including flights/hotel/car rental and all food/activities.

Second Bermuda. We were going to have a DW there initially. October is the end of their peak season, so prices are more reasonable too.

I’ve been to two Zika locations in the past year and did not have any problems with bugs and bites. I’m sure with bug spray, you’d be totally fine. I had a bigger mosquito issues back home than in the tropical locations.

The reason we want to avoid zika is that it's dangerous for unborn babies. We want to start trying for kids soon after our wedding and the virus can be infectious for up to 6 months. So not ideal in our situation.
