Yes or No? Wearing your wedding ring/e-ring during your honeymoon.

GabbiV, on April 11, 2019 at 11:54 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 21

Hi everyone! FH and I are planning our honeymoon to Thailand in November and were wondering "What we should do about my E-ring and our Wedding bands".

We will be in the ocean, probably going snorkeling and in the pool. Also Hiking and bathing elephants in Chiang Mai...I was thinking either:

1) Wear them and leave them in the hotel safe during the activities

OR

2) Buy a silicone ring/inexpensive band and use them as a replacement during the trip while leaving our actual rings at home in the safe?

We are doing 2! I would be so anxious knowing my ring is in the hotel. Even in the safe. Hotel rooms get broken into all the time..... I just think the peace of mind of knowing it’s safe at home is so worth it. I’ve read a lot of people regretting putting themselves through the stress of having their e-rings with them on the honeymoon!

We’re getting silicon rings! We figured we’d only be putting the nice bands in for dinner and the rest of the time they’d be sitting in the hotel safe. Better to just leave them at home

I bought myself a fake ring off of Amazon which looked almost identical to my e-ring and it was only $13!....on a side note, this made my fiance sad because of how real it looked lol

But having the fake ring makes us both feel so much more comfortable traveling and we dont need to worry about damaging or losing it

I plan on wearing mine. There's just as much of a chance of something bad happening to my ring during my daily activities and I hate to be without my ring. We just have insurance.

We'll do both. I plan on taking my real rings and wearing them during the day, to dinner, etc, but switching to my silicone band during active times.

Initially when we were going to Jamaica I was not going to take my e-ring or wedding band. Was actually gonna but some 100-200 dollar cheap ring to wear. We decided to not leave the country and go to Vegas instead so I will wear both my rings instead of a cheap one.

I would 100% NOT leave it at the hotel, whatever you do!! I personally wouldn't trust anyone not to break in and take them. I would say inexpensive "replacements" are your best bet. That's what I would do!

My ring is fully insured for replacement in case of any possible problem... I'm still not wearing it on our honeymoon. You can get a ring that looks real on Amazon for very cheap. Whatever happens to it... who cares. It was $20. LOL. However, I'd be so sad if my real ring got lost, stolen, or damaged. Sure the cost would be covered by insurance, but it's the ring he is marrying me with. I want to keep it forever. I'll miss my real ring for a few weeks while traveling, but I'll enjoy my honeymoon more if I'm not worrying about the safety of my ring.

We are taking silicone rings on our honeymoon. FH wears silicone most of the time anyway and I don’t want to take the extra risk.

We are also going to Thailand and definitely going with option 2! I don't want to chance it. Insured or not, I don't want anything happening to my ring.

Oh nice, I agree option 2 is better! When are you planning on going? Where in thailand?

I agree with you...my ring is fully insured but i still don't want to risk losing such a precious ring! A week or two without it is better than a life time!

Yeah I just don't see the benefit in taking the risk! My FH proposed while we were in Hawaii last year and the whole trip I was worried about where the ring was.

Our wedding is October 26th and we're taking a red-eye flight the following night. Three nights in Bangkok and seven nights in Phuket. We used a travel agent for everything but the flights and it has been a breeze!! What about you??

To his day, I still worry about my ring every single day, even though i wear it all the time!

I actually grew up in Thailand (so it's kind of a honeymoon/home coming for me but I can't wait to eat delicious Thai food and see friends again). So I planned a 2 weeks trip in November with 4 days in Bangkok, 4 days in Chiang Mai, 4 days in Phuket then 1 day in Bangkok before flying back. We haven't booked anything yet but I'm definitely feeling the pressure to start booking soon!

That sounds so awesome!! It'll be such a fun trip.

Our travel agent suggested we cut Phuket down to 4 days and go to Chiang Mai for 3 days as well but we didn't want to pack up and fly to a different place so many times so we decided on just two cities. Yes I would definitely plan to start booking soon!! We technically haven't booked but this weekend we're going to pay the deposit for the trip and book our flights.

I would plan on the silicone rings. Yes they're not as pretty but at the end of day it's a lot less stress. Also as someone who lives near the ocean a lot of my engaged/married friends say that they try to avoid taking them into salt water period. I don't know if it really matters but assuming you will be wearing the same band and stones for the rest of your life its probably good to practice taking care of your ring early on.

I plan on wearing my rings and lock it in the safe if I decided to go into the ocean. Otherwise I will be wearing it.
