Writing Your Own Vows

As you are planning your ceremony, how many of you have decided to write your own vows? This is a very personal thing to do and I’m wondering for those of you that have decided to do it, are you reading them at the ceremony or doing them in private?


I am so happy that my husband and I wrote our own. I was so worried about getting nervous and not being able to read them in front of everyone, but the minute I held his hand and looked into his eyes I was fine.
We also decided to have someone (a mutual friend) look over both of them in advance to give us any thoughts they might have and I’m glad we did that.

    We are writing our own, and I decided to exchange it in the morning, before the ceremony. Especially, before my make up 🤪 I will take pictures of it after make up, so I no longer shed tears, just posing with it.

    My FH and I plan to write our own vows. We're not sure if we will be saying them in private or in front of 7 or less guests.

    I was very happy that we wrote our own. we also printed them out and framed them and display it on our shelf

    My fiance and I are writing our own vows! We're currently torn between reading them during the ceremony, or reading them during our first look. We picked out some beautiful vow books to write them in, so they'll be a nice keepsake for after the wedding!

    That’s sweet. I had our printed on a large canvas and framed and gave it to my husband for our 1 year anniversary and then we hung it in our bedroom. He loved it!!

    We did not, because we had a Jewish wedding ceremony and personal vows are not allowed in Jewish weddings. I do enjoy hearing other people's vows though!

    We wrote our own vows, but we drew from samples the church gave us. Instead of putting the mushy stuff in the vows, we wrote letters to each other to read before the ceremony that had all the things we wanted to say but didn't want to say in front of other people.

    We are writing our own and saying them during our ceremony! We're also writing each other a letter to give one another while we're both getting ready day-of.

    We are writing our own separately, but I am so lost on what to write. I feel like no matter what I say it won't be perfect enough.
