I noticed on the knot they have a GoFundMe just who uses that and to my mom and dad they think that’s tacky.

GoFundMe is intended to help victims of unexpected emergencies/tragedies (natural disasters, unplanned hospital/ funeral expenses, etc). In no way is it intended to fund someone's dream wedding or vacation. Therefore, your parents are correct in stating it is tacky adding it to a wedding website--guests will think so as well.

As the previous person mentioned to, GoFundMe is a fundraising site for people who have experienced tragedies. It should not be used to fund any portion of your wedding. And yes, doing so would be incredibly tacky.

Yeah I'd steer clear of using GoFundMe. If you want to have a cash fund, use something like Honeyfund that's geared towards weddings. The rule of thumb is that guests shouldn't be "funding" your wedding or buying things for it (like a card box, guest book, etc.). Even if you do end up using anything you receive through a cash fund towards the wedding, it would at least avoid the appearance of guests directly paying for the wedding.

A GoFundMe for a wedding?!?!? Absolutely not. If you can't afford it, you don't need it.

Have the wedding you can afford without asking for help. It’s not appropriate to ask strangers or guests to pay for it. GoFundMe is for medical emergencies and natural disasters. A wedding is neither of those. Have the wedding at the courthouse with a couple of closest friends or at a park/community center if you want more guests.

Your parents are correct. Have the wedding that's comfortably in budget for you.
