An intimate engagement I was VERY surprised that my Husband did it in front of people because he doesn't like attention at all and is also private.

My DH booked us a cabin getaway for a few days before New Years and he decorated the cabin in rose petals and proposed there! No one was around, but he asked my parents blessing so they knew and were waiting for me to call them. After our trip we celebrated with my best friends (my bridesmaids) on New Year’s Eve and surprised them all then with the news/bridesmaid proposal boxes! So they were very surprised as well!

My fiance's proposal was totally unexpected and a complete surprise for me! We previously agreed that we wouldn't ever get married. He apparently changed his mind and didn't tell me, lol. As soon as we got engaged, he called his parents, and I texted my parents and siblings, and then a few minutes later sent a photo to a few friends. Over the next few days, I reached out to other friends/family members, and then almost a week after the event, put a post on social media.

There were other people present, but no one that I knew! LOL FH proposed at Navy Pier in Chicago (my favorite view of the city at night ❤️). We didn’t even make it out of the parking lot before I told my best friend 🤣 I know most people tell their parents first, but we actually kept it secret from them for several days so that we could tell them (and our siblings) in person at Christmas.

My husband proposed while he was running an Ironman triathlon. He had asked me earlier to have a random person next to me take a picture of us as he was coming to a meeting spot. I was completely taken by surprise and it was really awesome.
I called my sister first, then my mom and then my best friend.

About two months prior to proposing, my husband was going on a guy's trip with his best friend and several other close guy friends so he told them he was planning to propose. He also asked my parents permission so my entire family knew. He told his mom and all of his other friends as well so pretty much everyone knew before it happened. On the day we got engaged, my husband told me we were going for a picnic at a state park which we had gone to multiple times before so before we went we stopped at a sub shop and got hoagies, chips and drinks for the picnic. Then we went to the park. There is a river with a small rock like island that we went to and it happened to have a bench on it so I sat down and he told me he had to use the bathroom. I watched him walk to his truck which really confused me. I started to question him when he came back, but he said the bathrooms were locked and he forgot something in the truck. Then he asked me to stand up and not to hate him which confused me then he spun me around. There was a bridge directly behind me where my parents, siblings, grandparents, his mom, his brother & his brother's wife, and his cousin and then girlfriend were standing. I was surprised and very confused to see them so I turned back around and he was down on one knee. Without thinking, I grabbed the ring from the box and placed it on my ring finger. He stood up and hugged me and said I guess that means yes. I was just so excited that I didn't even really give him the chance to ask me. After that we had a picnic with my mom. His mom had gone to the same sub shop about 15 minutes before us and picked up a deli tray for them to eat since I would've questioned where our food was had we not gotten any. My mom got us a cake. It was nice. The reason he told me not to hate him was because 1. I didn't want to get engaged close to his brother and his brother just got engaged two days prior and 2. I didn't want anyone there to witness it because I wanted it to be a very private moment so he was worried I was going to be mad that he didn't listen.

I wanted my parents or his parents to be first - i just wanted our immediate family to know first and then i would slowly tell my closest friends, but i ended up telling my best friend first

My FH proposed at home on my birthday so it was just us. I told my parents first a few days later, then my siblings, then my best friends, my sorority sisters then social media.

Lol being extra and going all out to propose was never really his thing. I figured it would be low key and if anything the most it would be is like super close family when I thought he might propose during our Labor Day weekend family trip. My birthday was just as good and it was earlier.

Our friends were present when it happened, so then it was a matter of trying to call parents.

At midnight.

On NYE.

It was a bit chaotic.
