Who Are You Thankful For?

Meghan, on November 23, 2020 at 12:43 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23

It's Thanksgiving week, so it's a great time to feel super thankful!

Who are you/were you most thankful for during your wedding planning process?

I was most thankful for my mom! She was there for me through my entire 10 months of wedding planning. She was there to listen to every stress, answer any questions, and her and my dad were gracious enough to contribute financially. I would not have made it through wedding planning without her!

    1. a friend of mine is a wedding photographer and videographer [she lives in a different state as me] and i told her my woes about finding someone in my budget or in general [it was more expensive than i thought it would be] so she decided to do it for me for free as long as i paid for her airfare to get there which was significantly nominal considering the average cost of wedding photography and videography, not to mention the actual amount of time she had to spend editing afterwards ya know?! SHE SAVED ME A BUNCH OF $$

    2. a friend of mine went to art school and she is a great artist. i wanted to do thumb print canvas as my guest book and so i was attempting to do it myself where i draw and paint the tree. she ended up telling me she will just do it for me. so that was nice!

Literally everyone. My fiancé has been super helpful at calming me down while we had to redo our entire wedding, my parents and his parents have tried to keep me upbeat and give me ideas on how to do a covid wedding and have really been open to all our changes, had to change venues and our old venue was so amazing and didn’t fight us on giving us a refund, the new venue has answered all my questions and been just amazing in creating a new wedding in 2 months, our vendors have been very supportive through all our changes, my best friends have been excited and have listened to me anytime I needed, and my sister/maid of honor has just been the sweetest and is preparing an awesome little get together before the wedding that I’m especially excited about.

She very literally did! i had gotten quotes for photographer that were on par with what i saw on average and it was like $2k AT LEAST and that was only for photo. and she said yea that's what i charge too for this stuff.

with her airfare and rental car, i legit just paid like $450 for her travel expenses and in return i get video and photo from her!

I'm thankful for my mom who is helping us pay for our dream venue!

I'm thankful for my FH who is keeping me level headed during the planning process and reminding me that we have time, don't stress on the little things.

I'm thankful for our vendors that we've booked so far because they are amazing! Our photographer especially because she was so patient with our dog while taking photos yesterday!

During this wedding planning process, I have been most thankful for my fiancé! He has been my rock. He’s been super supportive in every single aspect of the planning process, Including the decision to postpone due to the pandemic. Also, I was forced to quit my job due to Covid. Not only was he supportive of me making a decision that was best for my health, he basically insisted upon it! He is supporting us financially 100% and never complains. I tend to be a very social person, and when he saw I was struggling with being alone so much, he bought me my dream French Bulldog puppy to brighten my spirits and give me an awesome playmate throughout the day to keep me company. I left a rather high paying job, and intended to find a new one once this was all over. But, now that I’ve had all this time at home to be introspective and reflective, I have started feeling like I may want to pursue something outside of my MBA; something more creative. The corporate world has definitely not been fulfilling for me, and I have always gravitated towards more creative things- drawing, painting, photography, writing. When I brought up how I was feeling, I fully expected him to think I was crazy. But, to my surprise, he was completely supportive. He said my happiness and fulfillment in life is so much more important to him than how much money I make. So I am currently using my free time to delve into photography. I feel like my life has unexpectedly changed sooooooo much over the past 7 months, and without him by my side it probably wouldn’t have been nearly as positive of a change as it has been. Just writing this out makes me realize even more how wonderful and supportive he is, and how lucky I am to have him. This has inspired me to go do my hair and make up and put on actual clothes (pretty much been living in leggings, yoga pants, and PJs for the past 6 mos 😆) and greet him home from work with a nice dinner and massage.

Oh, and I’m also thankful for my puppy! He is the cutest, sweetest, cuddliest little weirdo ever! And without him I think I would have lost my mind with boredom a long time ago! 😂

I'm definitely thankful for a handful of people who assisted me during the wedding process. My amazing husband has been very helpful with both the minimony and the upcoming big wedding. Both my mom and stepmom has been the most helpful, they have volunteered to pay for things, make things, help with set up and clean up, went to meetings with me, dress shopping, literally everything! My sister and bestfriend (my 2 MOH) have also been really helpful as well.

It sounds like you have been able to do a lot of self reflection and growth over the last several months. It is great that your FH is there supporting you through it! Also, I think you should build up those photography skills and get into the wedding photography business! You could make killer money while doing something you love!
