Which one to take?

The easiest last name change in most states seems to be to take on the whole last name of your spouse -- or him taking your last name. Usually if it varies from that, the name change has to go through a court system or longer process. If given the flexibility, it might best work to use the last name he would use socially.

I should have mentioned about checking with the place you would apply for the marriage license. There may be some options for your last name that are allowed but not typically described on the forms.
