Which came first: your wedding date or your venue?

Maggie, on December 11, 2018 at 11:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 129

When you first start planning your wedding, there are two major questions to answer: when and where are you going to tie the knot? For some people the wedding date is the most important decision (whether it’s a date with special significance or the only date everyone is available), other couples wait to see their dream venue’s availability and then set the date!

Which decision came first for you? Your wedding date or your venue?

We chose a month and a Friday and let the venue dictate the actual date.

Our venue came first. Originally we were going to get married in August 2020 but then we pushed it up to June 2019. So happy with our decision!

The first time around was the date then the venue. Now after postponing first came the venue then the date. We just had a month in mind and went with it and switched from a Friday evening to a Sunday afternoon

Venue! We had a general idea of timeline (spring 2019) but were flexible so we could have our wedding at the perfect location Smiley heart

We picked our date first because we wanted March 20, 2020 as our special day and to me it was easier to approach venues with a date already in mind. Luckily, the date is a little over a year away so we had our pick of venues and didn't run into any trouble Smiley smile

Ooh, I like the sound of compromise I'm hearing! What's your venue like, Alexandra?

That's super awesome, Alisha!! I'm so happy for you! What's your venue like? And how is 3/20 your special day? Is it an anniversary?

We love our venue!!! It has so many different spaces for us to take advantage of - a beautiful outdoor gazebo for the ceremony, a basement speakeasy-style lounge for the cocktail hour, a gorgeous grand ballroom for the reception, and a rustic barn bar for the after party!

Our venue is beautiful! It took me awhile to find it and I was taken aback by the amenities and the great vibes I got once I toured. After touring and researching various other venues, this one just stood out to my FH and I. It sits on a river and offers great views Smiley smile

Also, March 20 is actually 8 days after our anniversary but we just liked the numerical sequence behind it lol. We did consider our anniversary, but it fell on a Thursday and would not have worked out.

We knew our date had to be during one of my breaks from school, so we had certain dates in mind but we weren't rigid on the exact date.

We had a date in mind, but would have changed it if it was not available at a venue we loved. So I guess the venue solidified the date, because they did have it available.

Venue! We fell in love with the Black Stallion venue in the Outer Banks, NC so once we knew that, our date just fell into place!
