Which came first: telling your friends or family about the engagement?

I told my family first; friends later on that day.

I told my besties first! He told me he had already asked my mom before asking me so then I moved on to the rest of my family before posting on social media!

Our immediate family was there! Then we told the rest of our family and close friends. Then social media

Family first. Then we went Facebook live with it:-)

My mom and best friend knew first, then everyone else in no particular order.

Definitely family. We called our parents first and then I called my sister. Then we called our best friends and we texted other close friends and cousins. I messaged my group cohort from my master's program, and then we announced it on Facebook!

Family of course!

Technically I texted my best friend first but my family knew about it and we went home to them to celebrate afterwards!

My roommates were there with us so they found out first!

We had two great friends there for the engagement, we called his parents next.

Family. He had eager sisters who couldn’t wait for him to propose!

Did they know it was happening?!

We discussed getting married so much before he proposed that it was almost a formality. But he did end up doing a surprise proposal and both family and friends were there.

View Quoted Comment Yeah! He told them early that morning so they had us all dress cute to take "roommate pictures" when he got there and then they took some of us then he proposed! They were great planners!

Well my brother and his girlfriend were there for the proposal and my immediate family and best friend had known for quite some time, but first call was to my dad and his parents, then all the texts to the friends and extended family

Friends first! Had to call parents when they were together so they found out later. We actually didn't tell anyone for a whole night and waited until we got up the next morning to start sending messages!
