Where Are Your Decorations From?

Lisa, on July 31, 2023 at 12:56 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 23
Did you buy your wedding decor (centerpieces, guest book, signs, backdrops, etc.) on Etsy? Amazon? At a craft store or craft show? Social media or Facebook Marketplace? DIY?

Share a photo of the decor that will be at your wedding, and let us where you found it at!

I’ve joked to my fiancé multiple times that we need to add a “sponsored by Etsy” sign. Other than things we were required to get from our venue, every single piece of decor we’ve bought for the wedding has been from Etsy. I love it because we were able to get everything in our colors, and we had several pieces customized to fit our theme. Our card box is one of my favorites. It’s seriously gorgeous, and the seller lives in Ukraine so we liked being able to support her business.

HAHA I said something similar to my husband about Etsy while we were planning our wedding! We purchased most of our decor items from Etsy. So many super cute personalization options. We also bought a handful of things from Amazon that didn't need personalization. Awesome that you were able to support a shop in Ukraine! Do you have a photo of the finished card box?

I do, but we left it in its protective wrapping so it’s kind of hard to see in this photo. I’m definitely telling our photographer to make sure to get it at the reception, though! It’s Mary Poppins and Bert dancing, and then it has our names and date engraved across the top. Where Are Your Decorations From? 1

Some of my decorations are actually the not-so-expensive Godzilla figures from me and my fiance's personal collections. We will probably get some of the odds and ends via Etsy we are thinking.

That’s awesome! We also have a bunch of inexpensive Etsy finds that fit our theme perfectly. I seriously wish Etsy had a rewards program at this point lol.

Very cool that you already own a lot of your decor! I love when couples truly put their personalities and references to their shared interests into their wedding. The Godzilla theme will be fun! Etsy is a great place to find unique decor that you have can customized to match the rest of your decor.

You bring up a great question! Why doesn't Etsy have a rewards program?? I've never thought about it before, but I totally wish they did.

My guess is it would be too complicated since it’s all independent sellers. But it would be great if they offered their sellers the chance to opt in to some kind of agreement. Etsy just takes my whole paycheck these days haha.

We aren't planning for a ton of decor.

I ordered a garland from Ling's Moment to put on the gazebo for our ceremony and FH says he'll build us benches for guests to sit on. My mom found some little lanterns and mini bottles at a garage sale to use for... something. Faux flowers mostly from etsy - I'd like to add some additional flowers to the garland to add some color and DIY my bouquet. If we do centerpieces, I'm hoping to DIY them with bottles and/or jars. Anything else I'm hoping to find at garage sales, market place, thrift stores

Good point! And almost the same here - I thought I'd be spending way less time searching through on Etsy after my wedding, but then we bought a house shortly after our wedding, so now instead of wedding decor, I look through house decor on Etsy. It never ends lol! However, we've found some really cool things for our house, so I don't regret it!

Those are all great places to find gently used decor for cheap! The mini bottles could be used for putting favors in (depending on what favors you choose, if any), or putting sparklers in (if doing sparklers for a grand exit), or you could put a super mini bouquet of flowers (or a single flower) in each one, etc. Great find on the lanterns too! Those would be super pretty for ceremony aisle decor or as centerpieces on your reception tables or even decorating a tree or something outside to use as a photo backdrop (especially at sunset).

I ordered my engraved cake knife & server set and personalize champagne flute set from Personalizationmall.com. I also ordered silk petals from petalgarden.com for my aisle and long stem glass tealight candle holders from Dollar Tree. I think I bought my candles from Home Depot or Amazon. I am not sure where my mom and aunt bought my guest book, card box, aisle runner and unity candle. I am sure if you shop around for what you are looking for, you will be able to find sales, esty or second hand store or seller.

Yes, I'm very excited about them! I feel like I just need to see them in person (my mom lives in a different state so I don't have them in hand yet) and then I'll figure out something.

I had heard of PersonalizationMall.com, but never purchased anything from there. It looks like the items you purchased turned out wonderful! The Dollar Tree was also a great place to find items in bulk for cheap.

Thank you. You can find stuff on there on Personalizationmall. The prices were great. Dolllar Tree is great for bulk items. There are great finds especially if you are on a budget

Here's an idea to use the stuff your mom got: put candles (fake would be best) in the lanterns with maybe some fake greenery (just a little halo), then put the lanterns near the entrance of the gazebo (make a path). Then you could put simple flowers in the bottles (going for the bud vase vibe)
