Where are you getting ready?

Vanessa, on July 21, 2021 at 6:42 AM Posted in New York Planning 0 4
Hi all! I was wondering where people plan on getting ready/recommendations? I will be having my ceremony at a church and reception later on that evening. I plan on staying in a hotel the night of the wedding but they do not have a bridal suite to get ready in the night before, plus it is right next to my venue so it seems silly to me to stay there travel all the way to church then travel right back to where I was. Ty!

Hi Vanessa! You could look at other hotels close to your church to find a big suite or a conference room you can take over to get ready in!

You could also check out AirBnB & VRBO for places to rent, or see if anyone your family or bridal party can offer their home!

Having just got married last week ~ I would recommend either a private home like a family member or friend who lives near the church (where your arrival time isn't dictated by arrival/departure times at the hotel) OR a suite at a hotel near where you are getting married (book the night before AND the night of your wedding ~ because you want to GUARENTEE you will have your room for the entire time you need it).

The challenge with getting a conference room or something similar at a hotel is ~ it's just a room with tables & chairs (might not have a full length mirror OR good lighting for your hair/makeup people). We were "given" a "conference" room to use as a get ready room (our venue was a very nice hotel & they provided food/beverages reception & ceremony spaces) ~ after checking with my photographer who had done MANY weddings at the venue we decided my now husband could use that room & I would stay in the suite with my "girls" & get ready! Which was really the best option especially after I saw the conference space (my suite had a wet bar, living room, bedroom, 2 balconies & water views ~ he had a big space with a bunch of tables & chairs with 2 windows overlooking the parking lot).

    Hi there!

Does your church offer any sort of space to utilize? Our church also owns a house right behind it that the priests use for meetings/ counseling's and such. My bridesmaids and I are able to utilize it the day of. I'm happy that I will be right on site so I don't have to rush around getting ready then making sure we get to the church on time.

    Hope this helps!
