When to send save the dates?

Sarah, on May 27, 2019 at 9:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
We are having a destination wedding and everyone will have to travel. We are getting married 4/18/2020. I’m going to send the save the dates out next week, but should I include hotel information with the save the dates? We are getting married at a state park that has a hotel and cabins, and I just want to make sure that all of my guests have time to plan and also the nearest hotel to our venue is about 30-45 min away. Any advice is appreciated!

I would put the hotel information on your website and just include the link to your website on your save the dates.

I agree - hotel info isn't needed on Save the Dates Smiley smile

    Hi Sarah Smiley smile

As Heather shared, the best approach is to include all the accommodation information on your wedding website, and share the link on the save the date!

Couples who are having a destination wedding typically send out save the dates eight to 12 months before the big day so you're right on track!

For any more information on what to include on save the dates, etc, check out this WeddingWire article - When to Send Save the Dates.

What are your save the dates like? Did you make them yourself? Or get them made?

We have a lot of out of state guests, so our save the dates went out 10 months in advance with a business card sized insert with our main hotel block & wedding website. Our website listed several hotel options (our 2 blocks were set up), hotel information, etc. Before our invites even went out, we had 25 rooms booked!

Yes I actually read that article the other day. Yes I made them myself. I used Shutterfly. I included 4 of our engagement photos.

We are sending hotel information with our invitations. We will have transportation for guests to and from the hotel/venue that will be sent at that time as well.

We are also having a "domestic destination wedding" in June 2020 so everyone will be traveling from out of town as well. We are sending out our STD's with our wedding website where we will have hotel and travel information listed. We are planning on sending STD's out in August 2019 and invitation's in February 2020. The invitations will have more in-depth information but also direct most guests to our website for additional information.
