When to go on the Honeymoon!

Alicia, on October 23, 2019 at 11:23 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

The wedding is going to cost all my monies and my kids daycare tuition! JK, but that's what it feels like!

My soon to be hubby and I want to go to Alaska for our honeymoon (wedding 11/13/20) - Alaska in June months would be best! Do you think it's plausible to save for a honeymoon June 2021 or even 2022? At that point is it even a honeymoon?!

We have been together over six years and have two kiddos already. I feel any efforts to save will just be spent on family things.

We are in MN - would LOVE to go to Alaska and do some fishing! I want the salmon, he wants the halibut. Smiley smile

We're in Ohio, getting married 10/10/2020, and are planning on doing our honeymoon in Alaska in 2021! Smiley smile

Though we haven't picked a specific time yet, I'm thinking we'll go in the summer as well; we're interested in doing one of the land & sea cruise packages. To help pay for it, we're looking into travel credit cards that we can put our big wedding expenses on, and then earn points towards the honeymoon. That's my project to research this winter, lol!

We may do a very small weekend getaway after our wedding just for those immediate honeymoon vibes, but we haven't decided for sure on that yet.

I would go in June 2021 if I were you! It’d still be within the year of the wedding so I think it would be easy to get back into that mindset and feel like you’re on a “honeymoon”... plenty of people wait longer too for a plethora of reasons, but personally I’d feel like waiting until 2022 wouldn’t really “feel” like a honeymoon anymore, since it’d be after you celebrated your first anniversary even.

A honeymoon is just a vacation. I say this with all sincerity and no snark. But there are no rules for when/how/where a honeymoon can be. So, I say, save up and plan and schedule it at the time that works best for you both and ENJOY your lovely honeymoon! Also, Alaska is beautiful and salmon is my favorite food.

I would just go whenever you can afford it, it can still be a honeymoon!

It can still be a honeymoon a year or 2 later! Whenever you go, don't forget to pack warm clothes (even in the summer). My parents just went on an Alaskan cruise in August, and it was mid 50's-low 60's a lot of the time they were there!
