Savvy October 2022

When should you start planning❓ Especially with the pandemic going on

Hope, on December 30, 2020 at 12:18 PM Posted in Planning 2 40
My wedding date is October 2022 and it will be in Vermont (I don’t live in VT). I see a lot of people moving their dates around and vendors now booking for 2021 & 2022. I honestly would like to start now but I don’t know if it’s still to early! Ugh help please❗️

I don't think it's too early! I would actually start looking for a venue now, since many people are postponing to 2021 and 2022, and dates may become limited later on. Don't rush to book anything, definitely take your time and only book something if you think it's right for you (as opposed to booking something just to book it). But now would be a great time to start looking and getting an idea of what's out there. Happy wedding planning!!

We’re planning for Oct 22 as well! We’ve gone to a few venues and they have said 2021 is filling up fast. I’m anxious and want to book as soon as we find the one we like, but I am an anxious person in general :-).
Nice to meet another Oct 22 bride!

Everyone's time line is different but I would say many start planning about 12 to 18 months in advance.

    Congratulations and welcome to WW!

Start now. October is the most popular month to get married; I got engaged in August of 2018 and booked major vendors by the end of that year for an October 2020 wedding. If we had postponed instead of downsized, we would've rescheduled for October 2022.

Venues, photographers, and DJs tend to book up the furthest in advance, followed by florists and hair/makeup.

We booked our officiant 2 years out, but that was out of the ordinary for her -- she generally books about a year in advance.

Even though COVID makes planning a little tricky, I would imagine you'd proceed as though everything will be "normal," but I'd still ask questions about how various vendors are handling COVID, what their postponement/cancellation procedures are, etc.

    Have fun!

To be honest, you don't have a date until you have a venue booked. I would start looking at venues sooner rather than later for several reasons - 1. A lot of couples have pushed their weddings to 2021 and 2022 because of Covid and 2. October is a popular wedding month. Once you have a venue booked then you can worry about booking other vendors.

It’s definitely not too early, especially during the pandemic! Vendors are booking out further than usual, and October is one of the most popular months for weddings! Take advantage of your excitement and start having fun planning! 😀

Thank you Lisa! We have a venue that we really want to have our wedding at and they saved our date. They told us they will contact me after New Years. Thank you again for the advice, I’m literally going crazy.

It’s never too early in my opinion!!! I got engaged June 2019 and I’m getting married August 2021. I started planning right away because I’m in grad school and working full time so I didn’t want the stress of planning a wedding that’s too close. It has been SO nice and relatively easy because all of my vendors that I’ve liked were open for my wedding so I never had to give up anything. One thing that I struggled with though is waiting to go dress shopping. I didn’t want to go too early but I wanted to try on dresses SO bad for the first year 😂.

I just booked my venue in VT for August 2022 and they were almost full through 2022 already. I'd start looking into the big important things like venue and photographer soon.

I got engaged this year in April and my wedding is in April of 2022 and I started right away and with the new year coming my wedding day is even closer and I feel a lot less anxious or stressed that others who have waited a bit before their wedding or those who had a rushed wedding! Find your venue and vendors and get those booked up first to make sure you get the venue of your dreams and the vendors you want! Once you get all that booked take a month or so break and then start planning everything else!

I thought the same thing! I am recently engaged and decided to look around. I’m looking at two venues, one of which is booked out into June 2022 and the other only has one weekend left in October 2022. I was so glad I decided to start looking!

Oh wow! See, I just want to be able to relax alittle when 2022 comes. Also since future brides moving there dates, I feel like the vendors won’t be available for the time I get married due to Covid. Everything is going so fast
