What's Your Venue??

Jasmine, on April 12, 2021 at 10:52 PM Posted in Nevada Planning 0 4

FH and I have swapped out more venues than I care to admit (couple times not by choice). Although I still like it, it isn't what we originally planned. Our wedding will be at The Blind Center of Nevada. It's a great non-profit organization plus catering and entertainment (own company DJ/band) is provided.

They have a game room/lounge as well with 2 TVs (watching and video games), a pool table and a 2 lane bowling alley. They also have a whole inventory of decor items that are available to use for free! I'm sure it's still going to turn out great and be so much fun. I can't wait!

What venues are you booking/already booked??

We're in the early stages of planning our vow renewal so we've had some wild things going on.

Our very first plan was to do a private ceremony (like just us and an officiant) at the Maitland Art Center, where we got married, then have a big party with our friends at Splitsville Luxury Lanes. It's a bowling alley we've gone to for several anniversaries, we really enjoy it, and I figured it was a family-friendly way to celebrate (we don't have kids, but a lot of our friends and loved ones do.)

Then I realized that hosting a 20-year anniversary party at a place called Splitsville may not be a great idea. This may be the overthinker in me, but I wasn't up for receiving snide remarks or nonsense.

So the plan changed to hosting a full shindig at MAC. Then we visited MAC and saw that it has changed a lot since we got married... in ways we weren't thrilled about.

SO. The plan has changed again. We are thinking we will have some pre-ceremony photos at MAC, just for/of ourselves, and then booking the Orlando Science Center, a science museum we like. We actually went there the day after our wedding. I really wanted somewhere that had some significance to us, while also being unique. We are both science enthusiasts and amateur astronomers, so it feels very "us". Currently we're planning the ceremony in the Our Planet exhibit (which has a big globe projector you can put images on - we're debating between the Moon and an image of the Milky Way galaxy), the cocktail hour in the observatory, and reception in their Dino Digs exhibit (fossils/dinosaur skeletons).

I definitely understand the switch up. Sounds pretty unique and I'm glad that it's still the essence of you guys.
