What suit color for the groomsmen?

Julija, on February 1, 2023 at 6:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 36
I’m in an ivory blush dress. My fiancé picked a green suit for himself. My girls are in grape. The flowers are mainly orange. What do I put the groomsmen in?!?! What suit color for the groomsmen? 1

Wow you have a lot of different colors going on. I think you somehow need to try to tie things together because as of right now it just sounds like an explosion of color with nothing really tying anything together. I would recommend having purple, green and orange flowers to give it more of a cohesive look. As for the groomsmen could they also wear green or does your fiance want to be the only one in green? If he wants to be the only one in green then I would go with something natural like gray or black. I wouldn't do navy as that just adds in yet another color.

Yeah the florals have some purple and green so there’s that. My fiancé wants to be the only one in green. I already said no to black and navy, but gray doesn’t look quite right to me.

Well unfortunately if they can't be in green, black, navy or gray that kind of limits your options without adding yet another color. Too many colors are going to be very distracting and at this point you already have ivory, blush, green, purple, and orange which is a lot of colors.

That is a lot of clashing colors. Orange I think would be strange with the green and grape. Already I think your fiancé is going to clash pretty hard against your bridesmaids in any photos you’re all in together. But if you’re set on those colors then I think the groomsmen have be in something neutral like black or grey. Otherwise it will be such a wild clash of colors. You could always do a dark grey? My husband wore a deep burgundy suit so we decided to stay with the warm color scheme and do a lot of orange and burgundy flowers and the orange dresses and the groomsmen wore dark grey and we tied it to them by them wearing the orange accessories. Is he also wearing that red tie with that green and the black shirt? He can definitely get away with the black if he's totally dead set but the red tie doesn't go at all. Since my husband wore a colored suit he went neutral with his tie. The burgundy suit was important to us so we built around that. If he has to have green I think you need to build around that What suit color for the groomsmen? 3

I know, I'm kind of thinking that the best option will be a type of tan or sand. My mother says not to do it as that's more a spring or summer suit color, but at this point I think it's really the only option.

I thought possibly tan or sand but I do agree with your mom that those are more of a spring or summer color. I think you need to figure out a way to limit how many different colors you are going to incorporate. Like the other person mentioned your fiance is wear a red white and also a black shirt in the photo you posted which adds two additional colors if that's what he plans on wearing. Unless your goal is to have a rainbow wedding then I think you need to reconsider some of your color options.

Thankfully he is gonna be wearing an ivory shirt with a tan tie (camo is his favorite color so we are playing off of that and I haven't seen him so happy about anything planning with the wedding since so I refuse to change that) instead of the black and red he initially wanted (I vetoed that hard).

The colors of your wedding pictures look amazing btw. If I could manage to convince everyone to do that I would in a heartbeat, but I'm the only one who looks good in orange in my bridal party and I don't want to make them mad or feel self-conscious.

I actually had my sister pick the shade of purple and the other girls all loved it so I feel bad that I will be vetoing their color when I originally told them that it was okay. The main color pop was suppose to be the girls, but then we found out the place we were gonna order suits from did green suits and I knew that he would prefer that over navy.

I thought that maybe it could work if they were in tan or sand, but with everyone saying that it's too much color it's starting to make me freak out. The initial idea was for the girls to be the pop of color against the fall leaves and the florals would play on the nature around us, but again the green suit is throwing everything.

As much as I don't want to change anything, I think we will need to change the color of the dresses to make it work. I just don't know what to do. I need to make sure that it is a fall color, goes with orange and hunter green, and can be found on Azazie.

I like the ivory shirt and tan tie combo lol. Much better I think. They don’t have to wear orange ( my sister hated the orange but I really wanted it so she made it work and I honestly think it’s cute on her) but your fiancés suit is more of a warm toned green so I think you need to stick with that side of the color wheel. You can always do more earthy tones. That’ll look great with his suit and the orange flowers What suit color for the groomsmen? 6

MAYBE you can get away with a dusty blue but then you need to learn hard on the cool side of the color wheel and get rid of any orange What suit color for the groomsmen? 9
I personally would stick with warmer tones but you might be able to get away with this. Either of these options would look great next to dark grey suits for the groomsmen.
I know it’s tough that your girls liked the purple but things change sometimes. Orange wasn’t the original color I went with. I wanted tan suits DESPERATELY for the groomsmen for our October wedding but couldn’t find anywhere to rent them and didn’t want to make anyone buy new suits. People always say “oh that’s a color for spring or winter or whatever” and I think that’s all bull. Pick whatever colors for whatever season you want.
When is your date? Where are you located? We were hoping for colorful leaves for our wedding and everything was still green 🙄

I know, but I seriously like how it all looks with sand and tan. No, he's wearing an ivory shirt with a brown or tan tie (I vetoed the black and burgundy). I am wondering if there is any possibility of like a brown suit option but I don't think there is.

Yeah, I'm a warm toned gal, so all of it needs to stay on the warmer side of things. I'm thinking earthy tones would work too. The only problem is that so many of the girls are VERY pale (thanks Lithuanian genetics) and I'm nervous that will wash them out even more. I hate blue with a passion so I don't think I'll do that lol.

We are getting married October 1st in Illinois so I think there will be a mix of green and fall colors so I don't think it'll be too crazy. These are our flowers (just got it sent from the florist), and I love them so if I don't need to change them I won't.

Not sure where you are looking for suits but Generation Tux has this brown suit. https://www.generationtux.com/collection/tuxedos-and-suits/allure-dark-brown-suit

I agree that I would eliminate purple and go with a more warm/natural tone or even a lighter green? The purple I think is what's going to really be distracting with all the other colors going on.

I'm looking at Black-Tie Formal wear because they have a deal with House of Brides (where I got my dress) that we get 1 free suit or tux rental. My fiance bought his suit so we were looking to pass it off to his brother.

Those are pretty flowers! So yeah stick with earthy tones. I was worried about my girls in orange (both very pale) I was worried it would make them even paler lol. What suit color for the groomsmen? 11

but I think it worked out! Maybe stick with a darker brown instead of a tan color for them! Kind of like the two back dresses in that 3 dress photo I shared before. (Tbh I kind of wish I thought of that) You guys could always go to a shop and they could try some on to see how they’d look in those colors and then order whatever dresses you want from online

In that case, you could always ask if they have any brown suits but from briefly looking online it doesn't appear that they do.

That's valid. Yeah I think what I need to do 1st is find the boys' suit color that would work with my Fiance's suit and then pick the girl's dress color range.

Yeah, that's part of the problem. Taking a look these are the suits that I think have a chance of working. I have my Fiance's all the way to the left. After seeing them all side by side I'm now open to gray. I'm kinda thinking any of these options might work.

That’s a good first step. I see that other picture you shared of the suit colors and I think any of those would totally work

We went in not that long ago and I know that they don't have brown unfortunately. I'll have to talk with the groomsmen to see if they are okay with switching stores if that's the case, but I think just switching the girls' colors will be easier.

Yeah, I've also relooked at colors for the girls and I think I've narrowed them down to 6 options.

Switching the girls colors would definitely be easier unless they have already purchased their dresses.
