What can i have someone do at the wedding?

Erin, on December 8, 2020 at 8:25 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 21
I have all my bridesmaids picked out and my fiance has all his groomsmen picked out. There is one person that I have to include. What could have them do besides being in the party?

Usher. Prayer. A reading. Can they sing?

I agree with Meghan! They can do a reading during the ceremony, be an usher, perform a song during the ceremony if they're musically talented, be the officiant if you don't have one yet and your state allows it, etc.

They can't sing lol. When do the readings typically happen? Would it be before I walk down the Isle or while we are at the alter?

What is the reason they must have a job? If someone isn't an attendant, being a guest is a huge honor. The officiant does everything related to the ceremony (readings, etc) and groomsmen often do double duty as ushers

Haha not everyone is gifted musically. If they did a reading, it would be while your and your fiancé are at the alter. It’s typically a poem or a bible verse.

Have them be an usher or a greeter!

I agree with having them do a reading. My grandmother read a poem she wrote of us at our wedding. She read it during the ceremony while we were standing at the altar.

Agreed! And still, give her a corsage of flowers or a special bracelet to feel a part of the ceremony.

Make them a greeter for your ceremony and/ or reception. Have them help hand out programs or sign the guest book if you have them. I’ve done this for a few of my cousins weddings and it made me feel important and involved Smiley smile

They could be an usher. They could pass out programs (with gloves of course bc of COVID); they could do a reading.

Make a 2 min speech and toast before dinner? There are usually a few, sometimes family, or parents, friends, or WP.

They can be an usher or put them in charge of having people sign the guest book. You could also simply have them walk in the processional
