What are you serving for dinner at your wedding?

Yasmine, on November 24, 2020 at 12:46 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 39

What are you serving for dinner at your wedding? If you already had your wedding, what did you decide to serve for the meal? Just curious to see what everyone is doing/ has done.

We're doing a plated meal, and offering our guests a choice between chicken, steak, or fish! Also a vegetarian option too, but I'm not quite sure what the venue offers for that. When we did the tasting, all three options were incredible, so I think everyone will be happy regardless of what they pick. What are you planning to serve at your reception?

We served stations; carving station, mashed potato and macaroni bar, and a taco and fajita station.

We are doing our tasting in January to determine exactly what we want, but we are choosing 2 main entrees (chicken, beef, or crabcakes - Crabcakes are a HUGE thing in Maryland) and we are also doing a Pasta entrée. We are doing a served Buffet so our guests will be able to have each entrée if they would like. We don't have any vegetarians on our guestlist so we won't be offering that option.

What sides/vegetables will you be offering?

Those all sound great! Especially the pasta - I'm a huge fan of anything pasta lol. Enjoy the tasting!! I know it's been one of our favorite parts of the wedding planning process so far. I love that your guests will be able to try multiple entrees if they choose!

Along with the entree, our venue serves salad, potatoes, and whatever in-season vegetables they choose (we don't really get to decide on the vegetables they include, though I think we can make requests if there are any that we really want/don't want). Do you get to decide what sides are served with your entrees? If so, what options does your venue offer?

We hired a mac n cheese food truck to do a full buffet style with servers. There will be a few premade dishes (sausage and peppers, pasta primavera, spaghetti and meatballs) and then a full blow mac n cheese smorgasbord with different cheese sauces, toppings, additional sauces, along with salad and bread, because more carbs. We will have suggestions for the best mac bowls- like mine will be buffalo chicken (cheddar mac with hot sauce, chicken, green peppers, and green onions) and my fiance wants the cheese burger bowl (cheddar mac with ground beef, mustard, tomatoes, pickles, and onions). Not the fanciest, who doesn't like mac n cheese?

We chose sautéed fresh green beans and roasted garlic whipped potatoes as the sides. We will be using macaroni and cheese as one of the "pastas". Our guest will also get a salad and bread as well.

We had a plated meal! We had a salad with burrata, a pork belly appetizer & then steak/chicken/fish or vegetarian meal. We were able to incorporate some Indian spices into the fish dish but the others were very traditional (w/ veggies & potatoes)

We're doing a buffet style dinner, and the caterer will have servers to scoop the food for the guests to help with COVID.

We're from the south, so a crowd pleaser is classic southern staples. We'll more than likely do 2 meat options (pork/chicken), then for sides it really depends on the caterer we choose and what they offer! I'm really wanting to have green beans (fresh not from a can), mac&cheese, carrots, etc!

I'm half Filipino. So we will also have a whole roasted big (lechon). As well as a noodle dish called pancit. We're also wanting lumpia which is a roll that is similar to spring rolls!

For dessert we're thinking of having our cake of course, but would really like to have one dessert that we each like (peach cobbler and apple pie/cobbler in our case).

Our wedding isn't black tie or extremely formal. Our guests are also laid back and easy going, so we want this meal to be something delicious that everyone will enjoy, while also not breaking our budget.

We will haha! Our crowd can also eat (especially the Filipino side) so we aren't too worried that food won't get eaten. It's our way of representing my cultural background to the ones we love.

I will say that we will more than likely only have cake as a dessert option because honestly, not everyone focuses on the desserts at the weddings I've attended!

Y'all are making me hungry. Smiley tongue I just had my tasting two weeks ago, and I'm beyond excited. The food was amazing! We are having a plated meal at the reception with the choice of two entrees - (1) parmesan crusted chicken breast stuffed with ham, spinach and cheese; and (2) surf and turf (steak and shrimp). My venue only allowed us to offer 2 entrees to choose from, so offering combo meals (chicken/pork and beef/seafood) was the best options.

We are having a pizza food truck! They have a big pizza oven built in the truck so it'll be unlimited pizza all night, buffet style!

Since we are getting married in New Orleans, we really wanted to embrace the local cuisine; so we hired a chef to prepare a NOLA-inspired plated meal. First will be a play on soup and salad - we will be doing gumbo and Caprese salad (the salad isn’t really a New Orleans thing, but it’s my favorite so I wanted it LOL). Then guests will have a choice between: crawfish etoufee, pecan crusted Louisiana catfish or Cajun roast beef. We are still deciding on the sides, but one of them will be shrimp & mascarpone grits because it is one of my favorite things to eat in NOLA! Dessert will be bourbon bread pudding and of course wedding cake.

We're having one of our favorite local BBQ places cater! For apps, we're having falafel bites, burnt end toasted raviolis, and meatballs. Then for dinner, a plated salad and a buffet of pulled chicken and brisket, then white cheddar cracker mac, potato salad, and baked beans for sides. We had our tasting last year and wanted food that was comfort food but also not stereotypical BBQ. So happy we're going with them!

I agree about the dessert, also it seems like they'll be too full to worry about it anyways 🤣
