Weight loss, eating healthy, etc.

Amber, on February 14, 2022 at 11:56 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 4 12
We are planning to elope during our vacation to Orange Beach, AL this Summer! Just the two of us. No friends. No family. Just us, the officiant and the photographer! I’m about 5’9 and weigh about 148lbs. I would love to lose about 8lbs. Anyone else? I haven’t had an alcoholic beverage in over, I’ve drank only water for the past 3 days, and I’ve been walking briskly every morning for about 15 minutes..and sadly today is day 2 of no added sugars or creamers to my coffee..Gotta start somewhere..and I’m so scared of losing what I’ve started. Any suggestions, advice and words of encouragement are greatly appreciated!

You can do it! Focus on lots of water, low sodium, and whole foods (lean protein, whole gains, fruits, veggies)

You've given yourself lots of time, which is great! Try not to be too hard on yourself or feel you need to 'punish' yourself if you have a less than healthy meal. Think of ways you can add to your diet (i.e. more greens, fruit, lean protein, whole grains) rather than what you need to take away. Find forms of activity that you enjoy and look forward to. I've found this to be more sustainable. And just remember, you will be beautiful on your wedding day no matter your weight! Good luck!

I'm also trying to lose a bit but not a ton and what works for me is giving myself cheat days on Friday and Saturday so I dont feel like i'm totally depriving myself. I also work my favorite snacks in during the week as long as I stay under my calorie limit. The key is to give yourself grace and not beat yourself up if you slip up! Adding in activity is also key. I've started doing a core workout 5 days a week on top of my normal routine - you really only need 5-10 minutes of core in each workout and it does make a difference - and it's easy to fit in 5 minutes!

The Keto Diet emphasizes fruits and vegetables while limiting lean meat and dairy goods. By removing processed items from your diet, you will be able to save 600 calories every day. Excess sugar in the form of carbohydrates also hurts your long-term weight loss goals because it causes rollercoaster ups and downs in blood sugar levels due to insulin spikes, which leads to more cravings for high carbohydrate foods, which leads to a higher chance of overeating too many carbs, which leads to weight gain over time due to insulin production creating enemies against fat.

Put the creamer back in your coffee if you miss it! Those extra 50 calories aren't going to make a big difference. Track your calories on My Fitness Pal so you can measure what you're taking in. Don't try to count calories burned through exercise. Just get some movement in everyday like you are. Taking it slow is the way to go! Don't be scared to add in some strength exercises too.

Go vegan/plant based! Like Whole Foods Vegan/Plant-based with plant based proteins. A family member of mine went vegan and lost a ton of weight! She did it for health, but as a side-effect, she lost weight and wow! She looked great and healed a lot of her health issues!

This is my diet! I'm not completely vegan but I do opt for plant-based where I can and eat anything with meat quite sparingly. I only do non-dairy creamer in my coffee now which I actually prefer and have found healthier/plant-based alternatives to a lot of the foods I like! Like dairy-free pizza and sugar/dairy free ranch dressing for salads. I guess you could call me a "flexitarian" Smiley tongue I lost a lot of weight when I first started this diet but as with most diets, I plateaued and then gained some weight back. So I'm trying to work more exercise into my routine.
