Week of Appointments Timing - Destination Wedding

Samantha, on March 9, 2022 at 11:17 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 3

Hi there!

There is so much information out there about when each pre-wedding appointment should be. For the most part it seems that you should do the following (obviously all as needed and desired):

1 to 2 weeks before
- Hair color touch up
- Get a facial if you want
- Whiten your teeth

3 days before
- Get a wax
- Get your nails done

2 days before
- Get a spray tan

My currently problem is that I'm flying our for my wedding 3 days before (Wednesday), which means I either need to use vendors in my location for my tan, nails, and wax (vendors I won't get to do a trial with at all), or I need to do some or all of those things before I leave town.

My mom wants to get our nails done the Saturday before the wedding (so one week) - will my nails look too grown out by the wedding if we do that?

I have a tanning salon in my current city that I'd love to use, but I don't want a flakey tan on my wedding day.

I think I can still make the wax work with them because that will be 4 days instead of 3! I'll probably get my nails done in town that day as well.

Does anyone have any advice or input? 😬 What worked or didn't work for you or other brides you know?

I personally would not get my nails done a week before my wedding as one could break etc. For a wax that is completely fine as the hair will come out from the wax and would still look fresh over a week later.

I'm in the same boat! We will be traveling 4 days before our elopement but not on the island of our elopement until the day before 😂😳

I'm planning on doing my nails before we leave. I do regular polish as I have long natural nails and will bring a bottle for touch up. Planning on waxing the day before we leave/facial a will before and it'll be "good enough". I wanted a spray tan but will probably skip it with the timing and don't want to get one in another country!

I'd suggest talking to your tan place, or the tan place you would want to go to if you were going to be local. I got a spray tan a few months ago and honestly by the 4th day it was perfect!! So talk to them and see if they think you'd be good. And, definitely go for a trial to see what you think. As far as nails, that's a toss up. I would not go an entire week before, but if you go the day before you leave you should be good. I would also look into nail places or the spa where you're getting married. I got a pedicure at the salon at an all-inclusive resort I stayed at in the Dominican Republic and it was great!! So getting your nails done there might be a valid option.
