Wedding/reception venue combined

Laura, on May 26, 2019 at 6:07 PM Posted in Michigan Planning 0 33

Are any you having your wedding and reception at the same venue? It's what i'm hoping to do since i'm having such a hard time finding a church to marry us. I think it makes more sense since we will have the hall for 7 or so hours. I think it would make more sense for our out-of-town and out-of-state guests.

    Hey Laura!

I'm sorry that you are finding it so hard to find a ceremony venue but it's a great idea to hold it at your reception venue since you have it for long enoughSmiley smile

What is your reception venue like?

I am having my ceremony, photographs and reception at the same location!

It has been so nice not having to figure out transportation at all or having to remember multiple addresses for the events.

We are doing both at one venue. So much easier for everyone, especially since we will have a lot of out of town guests.

That's my thought too. He may be coming around to my way of thinking if I can at least get what he considers a "real" minister

Just got it rented today!! It's a community center, but not just any one, it has major sentimental value to us. We met there, at a dance back in 1985. I would love to be able to marry there too. I think it would be extra romantic

That's what I want. Our photographer is a longtime friend of mine, and her husband is ordained. It makes more sense to me. I"m also friends with the mayor of the town we're having it in, and I think it would been neat to have her do it too

We are. I think it makes it a lot easier/convenient. Is there a park near your venue or an outdoor space you could use nearby for the ceremony?

We are having it all in one place, ceremony on one side, cocktail hour and reception on the other side. Makes it easier for everyone and i feel it will make chances of having more guests higher

Yes we're having everything at a historic estate. Wedding ceremony in the garden, cocktail hour on the patio, reception in the gallery. I think it's great to aim for an all-in-one place!

The building is in the park. I'm not sure about an outdoor wedding in mid October though. I have contacted a nearby church that marries non members, but I can't get them to reply to let me know cost. They post a lot on facebook but aren't great with replies

What state are you located in if you don't mind me asking? I'm from Mississippi so it would be really easy to get a church to marry us even if we were non members. Do you have any friends or family connected with a church?

I'm in Michigan. I've called 79 in the area, including one I wanted here on WW, but they wanted 400 dollars for a one hour wedding. Most are crazy expensive, or want us to go to marriage classes which we can't do because of my fiancee's job. He's a plumber and can't easily take time off. Neither of our families are church people, and he and I don't go, so I don't get why he wants it. He is all about the budget and losing his mind over it, but he's willing to pay a fee at a place we don't really need. We already have the venue for 10 hours

We are having our wedding and reception in the same venue. It makes it easier for us and our guests (especially for those who are coming out of town) to hold our wedding in one venue.

We are hosting our event at one location. As a guest I really appreciate just having to go to one place and not having to worry about making sure I get to the next spot on time, etc. As a bride it makes thing so much easier for logistics and it lessens the opportunities for timeline snafus.

The venue we found, Historic Jordan Springs, has everything we needed. It has different places for the ceremony and a separate reception hall. It's beautiful and I love that we don't have to go from one place to another. I've been to several other weddings where everything was in the same location and they all turned out nicely
