Congrats on your upcoming wedding! How exciting! As for a dress do you have any friends or family members the same size as you I d first see if I could shop someone's closet. Your next bet would be to hit the mall, Old Navy, Target, Macys, Kohls, Express hopefully you can find something you love. If you are in the states there are a bunch of good sales going on for the holiday weekend. Happy shopping!

If there is no dress code listed, traditional etiquette says that the guests should be wearing semi formal. You can find something appropriate at the local Ross/Burlington. Try it on before you purchase which is not an option with online stores.

Don't cheat yourself out of a nice wedding experience because you feel it's "just" a backyard wedding, or "just" your second time, or you don't have a big budget.

You still deserve a beautiful day and there are so many ways to make it happen with any budget.

We did everything ourselves and we had a bit of a budget to play with, but along the way found so many ways of drastically reducing costs.

You deserve a beautiful dress. So many women would be happy for their dress to get resused, maybe you have a friend who could lend you one?

If not I second the thrift store suggestion, many of them do carry beautiful dresses for very low prices.

Flowers can be picked in nature, invitations can be homemade... do you have a friend or family member who could make the cake at cost? We found wedding bakeries completely overpriced but a guest with a hobby of cake making made an amazing 3 tier cake for us at cost. We didn't even have to compromise on the end result!

We had a musical friend play for our first dance, and it was far more special than if it had been a hired band. Other friends played for our ceremony and we did pay them but it was far less expensive than hiring external musicians who wouldn't have been attending the wedding.

We decorated the church and venue entirely ourselves and it was a big effort but so many good memories were made in the process. Youtube has tutorials for everything, and between ebay, amazon and youtube and purchasing flowers from supermarkets we got a high end look including a gorgeous flower arch on a very small budget.

It was actually really fun to source things as cheap as we could, using DIY and unconventional vendors.

If you want a very simple event then by all means go for it, but don't feel you have to be minimal with everything just because of your budget!
