Sorry... cash funds are preeeeeetty tacky.

I'm a huge fan of BB&B--they have such moderately priced stuff. Everyone from my younger sister's friends to my grandmother's siblings like the offerings they have, I'd recommend to most everyone.

I definitely enjoy BB&B variety for sure and it’s great for people who want to go to a store to see what they are purchasing. I totally understand how a cash fund could be perceived as tacky. I guess it depends on the person. My sister is getting married too and they just bought a house. Funds are low so I can see why the cash fund would be useful to them and, people would better understand in that case.

If that's the case for your sister, it's probably a better idea overall to do no registry/a very small registry--if there's no registry, most give cash anyway, and you avoid putting anyone "out" with a registry.

Ooooh yes! I will definitely share that information with her- she may opt to do that instead. I know she was thinking of gift cards too.

We did bed bath and beyond, crate & barrel, and pottery barn and we loved everything we got. I would just recommend registering for higher quality things that will last! I had a friend that regretted registering for target silverware because a year later she was already needing to replace it.

Great advice! I am in my thirties and can appreciate well made items that last. To that point- I can see how adding higher end stores would be beneficial. Thank you!

Yeah people want to buy you things that last throughout your marriage! Obviously still have different price points. My mother in law was complaining to me a few months ago how she was attending a wedding and they only registered for cheap things that wouldn’t last and she didn’t want to purchase those things.

I was told my my MIL to ask for a variety of prices - but really to make sure I asked for a nice china set for future family dinners and holidays. I registered at Target, BB&B, Crate and Barrel, and Macy's - also go back in every few months and check prices on some of your items - some of my items at select stores went down in price so I moved stuff around for my guests.

I used theknot.com to make our wedding website that is honestly basically just a way for people to access our registry. We choose some things off amazon, and Knot.com also has a cash fund. We really don't need much stuff, everyone knows that we really just need to save up so we created a cashfund that says "Newlywed Fund: Building Our Future" and if you click on it it says "Guests may contribute to the Newlywed Fund, as the couple begins to save for big life events!" Everyone coming to the wedding knows we want to try to get pregnant ASAP so tacky or not our priority isn't physical stuff. People who know us are the people invited, and they would rather contribute to our future directly. The only reason we created the amazon registry was for our older family members who will want to use a registry. We have friends our age (mid and late 20s) getting married whose entire registry is just a honeymoon cash fund and my only thought was "heck ya, good for them!!"

MyRegistry is THE BEST! You can accumulate all of your registries into one place. They sync up if you want them to, and it is really easy to save new products to it from your phone. I only shared our MyRegistry link on our wedding reception invites- that way you get everything that you want in just one place. It’s also free.

Amazon is my main one. I mean it’s where I shop for most stuff anyway.

Thank you! I do think that every couple is different and those who know you and know your situation will certainly understand. My fiancé and I are 34 and we are going to buy a house this year. Whatever option we are going to end up choosing, I think people will understands. Thank you for writing this!

I went with Amazon and Walmart so I could have different price points. Some of the older people like a physical store they can go into, and in my small town that is what we have. I also thought it would be easier to do returns at a store that I have nearby, if needed. As far as Amazon, I love it to begin with (I use it religiously), but you can find just about anything on amazon! Plus for a set amount of time after the wedding you can purchase what was not bought for 20% off. You can also add gift cards on there. Which is nice because I'm sure was you get in your new house you will find stuff you need, and you will already have the funds for! Another thing I found helpful was that both websites had gift list so you could get ideas.
