Wedding on Beach with 20 guests in nj do reception now or later?

Rosilus, on January 15, 2021 at 7:07 PM Posted in New Jersey Planning 0 9

Hello ladies

This may seem like a easy go ahead and just do it because of my guest count but it really isn't . NJ is kinda running strict guidelines now don't know how long they will last. Will not try to do this in the last 90 days either. Eight of my guest are coming from out of state and the other 12 are coming over a hour to the ceremony site (the beach). We are getting married on May 15 2021 on the beach. While I would love to do a party afterwards with a DJ indoors it appears that the COVID may still be around and may hinder that. I wanted to know if it would be easier to just do the ceremony now and party later. Especially if you are on a budget? To me the reception is the most expensive part of the wedding besides the honeymoon. We've already changed the date once from last July. We are not doing that again. I also was looking into food trucks for food only thing about that is we would need to rent tent, chairs , and tables for people to sit and eat shall we do this in a park. Because of Covid, I was gonna take this route instead of being indoors anywhere where COVID can be a high risk. When I look at prices it seems to come out to be even MORE expensive. So should i do the ceremony now and party somewhere INDOORS later down the line? I appreciate all feedback kinda stuck at deciding. which way to go here.

P.S. I would provide dinner/cake/drink but it would be simple for now.

Do everything in your power to keep the ceremony and reception the same day. Less confusion for guests and easier on their wallets

It wont be any confusion at all. Health and budget is the issue. I dont ask anyone for anything so as far as "their wallets". That would not matter my guest has a "choice" to bring a gift in all honestly.

I think Michelle might be referring to their travel costs not necessarily gifts. It's going to be more money for you to do something now (and feed guests) AND do something later (and feed them again). It will be more money to have to rent tables and chairs though - could you do BBQ or tacos or Italian? They might work out less expensive than a food truck

I agree with this. It's best it is on the same day.

I love beach weddings!! I agree if you can do both in the same day, it will be easier on you and one pro is you and your fiancé can exit the wedding planning cycle. I had my DJ outdoors under a tent and we really loved it. You wouldn’t necessarily need a tent if just renting tables, chairs could be really beautiful! I thought about doing that plan myself! At the end of the day, totally up to you, but with 20 guests not all hope is lost for a reception same day ❤️🌸🐚🏝

Meant easier on their finances to make one trip instead of multiple.

So then you go with a smaller reception now (soon) - outside, with your preferred form of catering, and if you want have a 10 year vow renewal and a big reception (or even just a big anniversary party).
