Wedding nails - looking for inspiration

whirlwind, on January 27, 2021 at 10:49 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13

Usually I just have my nails short and natural. Once in a while (as in maybe twice a year) I get a manicure with polish. I never had gel or acrylic and I am not sure if I like them for me because I am more into a simple look. Plus I am worried they might damage my nails.
Anyways, now I am thinking what to do for my wedding. Just clear polish, or a nude color or french tip? Should I go for gel or acrylic?

What are you doing? What are your thoughts on this? Can you post some pictures. Thanks!

So first I’ll say I keep Gel on my nails 24/7. I’ve never found it damaging, I can take it off without a problem. That’s my personal opinion. If you like French tip, you can always do that with regular polish, so you wouldn’t have to worry about a gel or acrylic. I suggest the French tip, or a pretty nude color!

Definitely gel! It's harder to chip and it does not damage nails like acrylic does. Much cheaper too.

If you are used to natural nails, then I would say a very light pink or nude color and gel if you don’t want the extra length of tips with acrylic. Or you could do SNS dip powder if you want the thicker nail like acrylic but no tips.

I would do gel to make sure it doesn’t chip. OPI bubble bath is a very nice pale pink.

I am lucky to have naturally longer and stronger nails so I never paint them. I decided to do something special for my wedding and tested out two colors of gel polish. I’m obsessed with the gel - it’s so sleek and perfect and shiny and I haven’t damaged them (yet, they’ve been on for about 5 days) I am going to choose the darker nail for my situation. I’m having private ceremony and I’m wearing a shorter blush Calvin Klein dress thats very plain with wine colored shoes and lipstick - I felt that the dark nails won’t interfere with my simple look.

I would say, if it’s in your budget, test out a color or two between now and your wedding to see what you like best !! Wedding nails - looking for inspiration 5

These were my nails for the wedding Smiley smile Just a very light pink (almost white) with some accent rhinestones on my ring fingers. They were very grown out when I took this picture, lol it was a couple of weeks after the wedding. I don't have a picture of what they looked like right when I got them done...

I'm debating to go an aqua color or light pink. I'm wearing all white and my bouquet will have pinks, whites, and greens in it. May do the fun color on my toes and a more modest color on my fingers.

Either white or a traditional French manicure is the "norm" for brides. My colors are red and black and my nails will be bloodred with black French tips. I would normally have just not done them at all, but I've got a sassy streak a mile wide and a really close friend who's great at doing nails and has already tried the look out on me. What I'd recommend for YOU, however, is something you'll be comfortable in all day. If you've never had acrylics or are worried about damaging your nails, I wouldn't suggest trying to wear them on your wedding day. It just adds an extra stress factor that you don't need. I've never had any issues with gels and there are some base layer things available that can help protect your nails and make removing the color easier if you just want it there for a day or two.

I would definitely say stick to gel if you don’t want to damage your nails. Acrylics are great if your nails are too short for what you want, but gel can still look natural and is way healthier for your nails!
