Wedding Invitation Templates

Sharonda, on November 17, 2020 at 2:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Help! I'm getting so frustrated with printing my wedding invitations. I found a template I loved on Shutterfly, but I need to modify the spacing, but the template doesn't allow it (even spoke to a customer service rep who confirmed). Now, I'm looking to print my own but I'm having a hard time actually printing precut invitations and insert cards (the printers won't recognize the different sizes), and I can't find a template for a regular sheet of paper (8.5x11) online that will allow me to input the appropriate sizes of the invitation and inserts so I can get the most use out of one sheet of paper. Has anyone else had this problem or found a workaround? I'm not adamant about printing my own so if there is another website that will allow me more flexibility than just the text and will also print them, I'm open to it. Thanks so much!

I have a friend who tried print hers at home with a template and she ended up taking the file to a local Staples with zero issues.

Zazzle's invites are fully customizable. I changed the font, spacing, added a monogram, and added stripes to ours. The problem is they don't do recipient addressing. Still figuring that one out...

Have you considered doing electronic invitations?

Printing at home can be very challenging, especially figuring out all the printer settings. I would definitely look into taking them to an Office Depot/Max or Staples, they can help you print these at a very inexpensive cost.

Thank you for the suggestion. I just called Staples, and unfortunately, the invitations and inserts must be formatted on 8.5 x 11. I'm finding that most printing places (even local ones) won't print on precut cards but instead want the information already formatted on a regular sheet of paper. I'm having trouble finding the templates to make that happen.

I wish I could. I'm having a hybrid wedding -- small family physically present (parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles) and the rest of the world (approximately 200 people) via livestream. I'm using my website primarily for the livestreamers and am sending physical invitations to the persons who will attend in person. It's mainly ceremonial, but still . . . I want them to have invitations. Plus, most of the attendees will be older so physical invitations will work best for them.

If I can find a template on 8.5 x 11, I will do that. Fingers crossed. Thank you!

They should be able to print multiples on a page and cut them to size

Either I'm not describing it correctly or they don't understand what I mean. LOL! I may just make a trip to Staples to talk to someone in person. That may be easier.

Can you just have them printed by a local printing company or somewhere like Staples or Office Depot?

I got really frustrated with some invitations I loved but couldn't format the way I wanted. So I just chose a different template. It's really not worth the stress and all this work.

I found that was much easier said than done. I found an invitation suite that I really liked and was reasonably priced on Magnetstreet.com and ordered them tonight. Now I don't have to worry about paper size or printing! A win win!

Thank you. I actually found some invites tonight on magnetstreet.come and ordered them. Crisis resolved! And I can scratch that off of my list!

You're right. I took your advice, buckled down and found an invitation suite I really liked and was reasonably priced (75% off) on magnetstreet.com. I had my mom and sisters on proof duty tonight (my fiance was working and looked things over "quickly"), but we got it done before the sale ended. My only regret is I wish I had found this site and the invitations last week. LOL! Either way, this issue has been resolved. Invitations have been ordered and I don't have to worry about paper or printing. Now, I'm just waiting for them to come in.

Etsy has a lot of invitation and insert card templates, even full suites of matching products. They are relatively cheap, usually $5-20 for the template and then you can edit it yourself. Most of them use a program called Templett for the download but some come as MS Word files. They are designed to print at home so I think a lot of them come formatted to print on regular letter size paper. If you find one you like you could always contact the seller and ask if they are formatted for letter paper or if that's something they can help you with.
