Wedding in the woods?

Jill, on January 5, 2019 at 10:15 AM Posted in Oregon Planning 0 6
Hello everyone! We are newly engaged (yay!) and are looking to get married in the woods with about 100 people. Open to ideas near Hood River or in the Gorge. Any suggestions??

Hi Jill! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement!

I love your idea of a forest wedding! That area is absolutely gorgeous and will be a beautiful setting for your August 2020 wedding day! Smiley heart

Contacting the county parks/forest services in-charge of the forests in these areas will help you with the logistics of how to plan the outdoor wedding you have envisioned. Smiley heart Near Hood River, it appears that Beacon Rock State Park, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area, and Big Cedars County park might all be good parks services to try! Smiley smile

Will you be traveling from the Portland-area on your wedding day?

Thanks Maren! Yes we will be traveling from Portland, as will most of my family who is coming from California. Checking out the parks is a great idea! I was looking at venues more often but parks are a fabulous call. Thank you!!

    Metzler Park
    Eagle Fern Park
We are getting married at Anderson Lodge outside of Portland. We wanted a woods wedding with camping, lodging and ability to bring your own vendors. They are amazing!

I second Eagle Fern. It was our first choice but the weekend we wanted was their first weekend closed for the season. They have actual bathrooms, you can reserve the day before to hang lights and such, has amazing photo ops on the creek and bridge. Only issue was it was a cell dead zone and the roof of the big pavilion had leaks.
We also looked at Camp Creek campground above Rhododendron and renting the whole campground for everyone to camp at. It has a free standing huge stone hearth, creek, and restrooms (vault toilets).
There is also Metzler Park, Barton Park, McIver Park, and Oxbow Park. Oxbow is amazing but I believe they do not allow alcohol.
