Wedding Hashtag: Inappropriate or not?

Bridgette, on August 25, 2019 at 6:18 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Hello everyone!

I wanted to get everyone's opinion on our wedding hash tag. His last name is Brass and I will be taking his last name. I was thinking about the hash tag being #meetthebrassholes similar to the movie "Meet the Fockers".

We have a mostly relaxed guest list. There may only be a couple raised eyebrows...

If that’s what you guys want, go for it. People will raise eyebrows about any and everything, so do what makes you happy.

I can see how it could be perceived inappropriately. It seems like you're calling yourselves a-holes, which I'm sure you're not! How about changing the last part of the hashtag to "Brassers"?

If you’re worried that older folks (not to be too ageist) might be offended, they’re probably not using instagram and twitter anyway. Heck I’m only 47 and I don’t use them. I only see hashtags on Facebook, and I don’t pay attention to them anyway.

I like it! You know your guest list, if you’re a jokey couple and find I funny keep it!

I should probably add that my fiancé's nickname has been brasshole over the years. Almost our entire guest list is laid back. I'm unsure about maybe two or three.

Everyone is different. My best friends maiden name was Jones and her husband is Ganjalizadeh (gone-jolly-za-day). Their original (brilliant idea imo) was #JonesingForGanj. They did, however change it in the end. I'd give it some serious thought though. I love a good joke and pun, but I don't know if I'd want something quite that strong as my hashtag, even though I think it's brilliant and hysterical.

Honestly so FEW people use the hashtag anyway..If a few people are offended over it... Oh well.

I think if you’re not sure if something is appropriate, it probably isn’t. For peace of mind I’d go with something slightly toned down.

Maybe incorporate it in a less direct way...

You know your guests best, so I saw go for it!! My friend Becca married a Patrick and their wedding hashtag was #batrickcray and everyone thought it was perfect and funny! I also love Misty's idea, #KickBrassKindaWedding!

If you're all in on embracing "brasshole", here are a few more hashtag ideas for you Smiley laugh :

    #ForBetterAndBrasshole

    #BecomingABrasshole

    #AllAboutTheBrassholes
