Wedding gifts

Laura, on November 12, 2022 at 6:52 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14
Hey everybody, we got a beautiful wedding gift, but have no clue what to do with it. It's an extra large engraved cutting board. I love to cook, but this is so huge it is too big to store in my cabinetry, my sink is also too small to wash it in as is my dishwasher. Doesn't fit on my counters either. Anybody have any idea what to do with it, or has this same issue with this kind of gift?

Is it the kind that sits on your stove top? Could make it a wall piece if you want.

Agree with Alyssa. If you have space, I would either prop up on a counter top or hang it on the wall as a lovely art piece! 😊

Congratulations on your marriage! Sounds like it may need to be tucked away in the bonus room or a garage. Sometimes I wonder what prompts people to do the things they do. Hope you'll be able to use it....maybe to carry meats outside when you're gonna grill???

If you have cabinetry space on top of the cabinet it can be stored there

I don’t understand hiding it because it’s personalized. Just don’t accept the gift and be honest with the giver if hiding it is the preferred option.

Display it propped against the wall which takes up no space.

You might use it to make a pretty charcuterie board when guests come over?

No ideas to share, but the exact same thing happened to us! Someone got us a giant engraved cutting board--it was a monstrosity. We lived in a 1-bedroom apartment at the time, and we had no place to put it. We posted in on our local Buy Nothing group and a random person retrieved it within the hour.

I'm guessing it was noodle board that is made to go on top of the stove.

Sadly it was not a noodle board--it was more similar to a butcher block and it did not fit on top of a standard stove. Unfortunately it was not the only personalized gift that we ended up getting rid of Smiley sad

Is the gift made of wood? Would be a shame to dispose of a beautiful piece of wood. Can you make a diy butcher's block? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8zx_CuSe3U Or an end table?

You could try sitting it on a coffee table as decoration?

Is it large enough to put on your stovetop to do something like this?
