Wedding gift for spouse??

Kayla, on July 27, 2017 at 11:50 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 57

I know it's a common tradition to get a wedding gift for your spouse, but I have no clues what to get him. Are you guys doing this too? Any thoughts on a good, thoughtful gift?

I did a boudoir shoot for DH but he knew I was doing it. I also made him a scrapbook of our life together so far and that was a total surprise. He loved it Smiley smile

My FH wants a handgun, but I am not willing to buy that. It will probably be a nice watch or something along those lines.

Taking a few minutes to exchange gifts has always been a tradition in my family, so I don't want to break that. Other people don't do it. It is up to you. Is there something they really want or would enjoy?

I want to buy a nice watch and have it brought to him the day of (or maybe doing our first look?) with a note that says "Don't be late! See you at 2:00pm"

Purchasing an Apple watch for my FH. He likes watches, but is a personal trainer and mostly wears athletic shorts and t-shirts so I thought this would be a better option.

He had gotten me a set of wine glasses with one engraved. I got the other one engraved for him and will give it to him on our wedding day.

I'm doing a "Groom's Survival Kit." I'm including socks, etc. Mostly small things. I think this and a love letter relays the sentiment I'm going for. The items aren't super sexy, but they're useful. And if he has a upset stomach, he'll be happy he has some pocket sized tums.

As an aside, we talked about budget for these gifts. We didn't want the other one embarrassed because if they gave too small of a gift, if that makes sense.

It was a last minute decision to surprise H with a lion ice sculpture at our wedding. It wasn't as expensive as I thought so I went for it. Otherwise he wouldn't have gotten anything. He didn't buy me anything. The real gift is you. lol

I purchased a wooden ring dish with our date engraved on it to put on his nightstand from etsy. He doesn't really have a place he can put his ring when he's not wearing it and I think it will be a nice wedding day photography prop.

I've been throwing around a few ideas. I want to get him something sentimental but also something he will use and love. He has mentioned wanting an official Dak Prescott jersey (we are HUGE Cowboys fans) and so I might get him that and a Bible engraved with "The Walker Family Bible". These would be the best of both worlds! Not totally decided though.

Not doing it. Rather spend our money eslewhere. We also don't do christmas presents, we would rather go buy something "big" together that we both want.

We are just gifting each other cologne/perfume. My FSIL did this with her husband and the idea was that that smell would always remind you of your wedding day. I think it's a cute somewhat inexpensive gift

Both of my FH parents have passed away sadly. So, I got a pin that he can wear on his jacket, that has a picture of his parents on their wedding day. It was only $20.00 nothing too expensive. But the meaning will definitely outweigh the price. I don't expect anything from him in return.

FH is a fancy dresser. He loves tuxedos and morning wear. So since you don't wear a wristwatch with a tux or morningwear, but you can wear a pocket watch with them, I decided to get him a beautiful pocket watch with an inscription of our names and wedding date.

Wow so many awesome ideas! I was already considering a watch actually! A boudoir sounds like a fun idea but I'd be super nervous to do it lol

FH bought me a camera I'd been wanting very badly. He gave it to me early because he knew I was wanting it for some specific projects. I bought tickets for us to have a quick weekend getaway to see his family who won't be able to make it to the wedding- we are surprising them Smiley smile. Untraditional and non sentimental but it's what we both wanted and special to us. This is one area where you should really do you and your FH. I thought about more traditional gifts but non of it was worth the money or would have the same value to us.
