Wedding Dresses for Hawaii

Andrea, on October 11, 2019 at 2:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hey ladies,

I'm going wedding dress shopping this weekend for the first time, yay! I'm so excited, I don't know what to expect.

What types of dresses do you recommend for a beach/tropical ceremony?

And shoes? My guy is 6'2'' so I like wearing heels cause I'm only 5'4'', but that seems a little impossible because I'll be walking in the sand!

I got married on the sand in Mexico. I wore sandals with an ankle strap (so i didn’t kick up the sand into my dress). I wore a stretchy Grace Loves Lace gown. No boning. No zippers. No buttons. It was light and airy. Best of luck!

Have you been to the area in Hawaii you plan to get married at to see what the weather is like usually? I've been to Maui twice and the Big Island once, and each visit was extremely hot and humid. Because of that, I would recommend something light, airy and flowy so you don't sweat too much. I also recommend no heels, just sandals. Everyone knows your height difference so it is no surprise you're shorter than he is without your heels.

Your sandals idea with the ankle strap is a good idea too. It looks like an amazing wedding!

Yeah, we went in September and it was extremely hot and humid. I bought a dress and it’s so light I think it will be perfect!

Now my next step will be to buy the perfect shoes. My first alteration appointment is in a month and they said I had to come prepared with the type of shoes I’d be wearing. There’s always something next on the list to do!

Yes! It was so amazing. I was very open to different styles and fabrics. My mom, sister and future MIL were giving me definite yays or nays to certain ones.

At my second dress store my mom went off browsing and found a dress she thought I’d like. As I walked out my MIL started to cry, followed by my sister and then mom. They were trying so hard to hold back tears! They said the dress was perfect, I get the princess romantic look and yet it looked light as well. I can’t wait to get it altered so it fits like a glove!

I tried on 7 dresses in the first place, and then 3 in the second. The dress I chose was the 2nd one in the second place! I had to try one right after just in case!

Have you thought about how you will accessorize it? Do you plan on wearing a veil or no veil?
