Wedding dress preservation????

Wendy, on August 22, 2021 at 12:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 18
Hi everyone !!!

I wanted to resell my wedding dress, but hubby wants me to keep it… did you guys preserved your dress? If so, how much did you pay??
The boutique I bought it from is charging me $350… not sure if that’s a good price or too expensive..

It can cost anywhere from $250 - $750 so that doesn't seem bad.

I asked the to clean my dress and preserve it. It was included in my cost. You may want to ask about cleaning your dress and if it is extra cost on top preserving your dress or included in your cost.

This might sound crazy but how do you preserve the dress?

David's Bridal was a little under $200 to clean and put in preservation box. Not sure if the dress has to be from DB tho..?

My sister in law is making her daughters baptism dress out of her wedding dress - I think it is a perfect way to “preserve” the dress. I considered the same even though I’m not religious but we are finally having our wedding when our kids r 5 and 6 so doesn’t quite work out

It does NOT have to be a David's Bridal dress to use the kit - and those prices range from $50 and up (after you spend $100 - on sale - for the cost of the kit itself).

I think it's a good deal, and they have personalization options and the see-through window where you can see your dress being displayed,

$350 sounds reasonable for wedding dress preservation, its just worth keeping in mind that preservation is like getting your wedding dress ready to go on display in a museum case. Once preserved, the dress needs to stay in its temperature and gas controlled box/container to stay preserved. So if you have any plans to take it out anytime soon, such as putting it on for your anniversary, showing it to your young daughter, etc it might just be better off getting it cleaned and storing it appropriately in a garment bag. If you plan to just put your dress away for 20+ years then preservation might be worth it.
