Wedding dress destroyed 1.5 weeks before wedding

Ashley, on February 19, 2024 at 2:22 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4
During a try on one week before wedding my dress was to tight on arms/shoulders and hips. It got stuck and ripped. My budget is very small 200$ is me going 50$ over. Idk what to do! I am panicking and crying. I can't believe this has happened.

It sounds like whoever did alternations made the dress way too tight or no offence your body has changed since your last alternations appointment. At this point I think you will either have to pay for it to be fixed or buy a completely different dress.

Lulus has a nice bridal collection for $150. I recommend getting a dress you like (expedited shipping might be a good idea to ensure that it arrives on time). Size up if you're unsure, you can always use safety pins to pin things out of the way (might work best for satin)

If it tore in the arms or shoulders, can you find a shawl or wrap or something to wear? Pin it or stitch it enough to hold in place and then cover it with your wrap. It’s a winter wedding, a shawl or white fur wrap would fit right in. You can get some for very cheap and with fast delivery on Amazon. I got shawls for the bridesmaids and a fur wrap for me less than a week before the big day when the temperatures suddenly dropped.
