Wedding Counseling

I encourage anyone & everyone to get counseling together, BEFORE getting married!!
I've already learned so much about communication & what my spouse not only needs but expects from me as a partner. I've learned the areas he wants me to speak up & give him advice & counsel & when he needs to be able to be his role as head of the house. I heard from him, it's okay to be weak sometimes, it's okay to ask for help, ask extra of him, but it's also okay to be me, have a voice, be strong, make money, spend money - it's all about 'communication' & honesty, being able to say what you need & not expect someone to read your mind.
He has learned that "Head of the Household" does not mean superior to spouse. It means that if there is a burglar breaking in at 3am, he's getting up to defend the home.

A huge issue in our divorce rate lies within couples "dating to date" not "dating to get married" anymore.
You should date, definitely date, but keep in mind you don't want to waste your time for a future family (if that's what you want) & you don't want to waste their time or their future & if you do want to waste their time & future, you should probably work on YOU for a little while, because 'hurt people, hurt people.'
Date for your future, not for entertainment. Just my piece of advice, coming from a 33 year old women FINALLY marrying her "bestie for the restie" after almost 13 years of dating to date & not for our future.
I'm thankful we are where we are now, but we were toxic & hurtful to each other, learn from this, friends. xo
