Wedding Cake Vs. Desert Table

Jamie, on October 1, 2019 at 6:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

Hi Everyone!

So, my FH and I met with a local bakery the other day to get some pricing on a dessert table. I was under the impression that it would be a little less than what they quoted us. I heard that dessert tables were less expensive than cakes.

So I'm just curious if you had or plan to have a CAKE for your wedding, what are you paying and how many tiers does it have/how many guests are you serving?

Thanks!

I had three tiers for 210 servings and it was around $275 but it was originally $250. I just upgraded the flavors a bit. That's considered cheap. I found a cheap bakery BUT although my cake looked nice. It didn't taste great Smiley sad

My daughter’s cake was included in her food package at her venue. She had 175 guests. She also had gluten free cupcakes that they charged an additional fee for. You’ll need to check with bakers in your area because pricing can vary greatly. FYI, my daughter’s cake as shown didn’t cost extra. Some do if the design is elaborate or you order special flavors. Hers was absolutely delicious!! The bakery was The Baking Institute in Northbrook, IL if you’re in the Chicago area.

Ours is $530 from a private baker. It’s 3 tiers and serves 74 people. Our caterer also offered cakes and they quoted us 250$ for a 3 tier cake that served 50 people.

My cake is going to be around $350 for 3 tiers (all different flavors and fillings) and I'm expecting around 120 guests but I know for SURE that not all guests will be in attendance. Some have already expressed they can't come due to financial reasons. Furthermore, not everyone will want to eat our cake. So to compensate, we will also have a dessert table with cheesecakes, & cupcakes. Not sure what else we may have, but that's where it stands now!!Smiley heart

We're planning on having 200 guests. We have a 4 tier wedding cake that will feed 152, and a 3 tier groom's cake that will feed 52. My wedding cake was $610, and FH's groom's cake was $180. Groom's cakes are always significantly less expensive than wedding cakes. My cake is about $200 less expensive than what I would've paid with other bakeries in the area, though. We're, also, going to have chocolate covered strawberries.
