Wedding Band help!

Andrea, on October 20, 2019 at 8:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
We went wedding band shopping today, and I left completely confused as to which one I thought I should get.

My fiancé custom designed the ring and the jeweler we went to made it. The jeweler suggested a band that would be flushed against the e-ring, but that it would be more square shaped and would look weird if I wore it alone— which I would like to do on days we go hiking, out of country, etc.

The jeweler did say I could get a straight band, but because my e-ring is flush against my finger it would leave a gap if I don’t mind it. Do you guys have any ideas/inspiration to any bands that would complement my ring??

I would have the custom ring made and then just buy and inexpensive band to wear when you hike or don’t want to wear you rings.

I would get a custom band that fits around the engagement ring. I have a silicone ring that I wear if I'm going to be doing any activities that may damage my ring.

I agree with the others. If you go hiking, you probably don't want a diamond wedding band on anyway. I would get the custom one and then a silicone ring for when you don't want to wear them. Mine is custom fit and has a slight curve, which I think actually looks pretty cool on it's own. If you go the custom route, you may actually find the band to look pretty unique and stand out on it's own.

Maybe get one that fits your engagement ring then get a cheaper one to wear when you don't want to wear your wedding band? From my personal experience, I wanted a straight band for the same reason... to wear alone when I didn't want to wear my diamond (travel, etc.). I thought if I got the band that was curved to fit my diamond, it would look weird on it's own. I can tell you after nearly 3 years of marriage, I haven't worn my wedding band on it's own. In fact, I am now considering ordering the band that goes with my diamond because I think I'd like the fit better. I find that I wear a rubber band when I'm traveling or doing outdoor activities. It's comfortable and I don't have to worry about ruining a nice ring. Your ring is stunning though! I personally think having a wedding band made to match your engagement ring would look better. You can always get a fake ring similar to what you have in mind for your wedding band and wear that on off days?

I like PPs suggestions of getting two wedding bands. The custom one to match your beautiful e-ring along with a silicone or plain wedding band!

Ladies, you were all super helpful! I think I will get 2 wedding bands, one that is flush with my e-ring so that it looks like a set, and then a simple non-expensive band to wear if I ever have any outdoor activities which at this point are slim to none cause of my schedule. I do like having the option and I think I'll opt for what you guys recommend. Thank you so much!!!!!

I have custom ring and wedding bands. I could wear the wedding band solo but it would look odd. However I wear silicone rings when I workout and at work when I nanny. My husband has the same thing, he wears his silicone ring to work on cars and to workout too. We love them.
