Wedding and honeymoon planning during pandemic

Ashley, on April 29, 2020 at 12:18 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 3

Like many of you, I'm concerned about wedding plans/honeymoon plans falling through. Our wedding date is 10-18-20 in upstate New York. As of right now we have not postponed, although we realize it's a possibility. About half of our guests are from out of state, so we hope things will work out. Our plan B is postponing until October 2021, but I think we have a few months before making a final decision.

We wanted to do a 2-3 week honeymoon January 2021 in Ecuador and the Galapagos. Right now the Covid-19 situation is very bad in Ecuador, so I'm not sure it will clear up by then. Thankfully we haven't booked our honeymoon yet. If going to Ecuador isn't possible, we want to have a back up destination. We are both scuba divers and avid travelers and would like to go a beach or somewhere unique. My fiance suggested Japan or Singapore but I'm not sure those places will be OK to travel to by then. I was thinking maybe Hawaii. Any thoughts on places that might be safe come January? I'm not sure if Hawaii would be too cold during the winter.

If you are into scuba diving and want somewhere unique you should look at Belize. Some of the best dives in the world and you can stay by the beach to relax or do some adventure activities on the mainland.

Hi Ashley! I definitely agree with your current sentiments about your October wedding plans!!

All international travel is so up in the air right now - when are you thinking about booking your trip? I'd wait as long as possible to see how the situation changes! Hawaii could definitely be a good idea since you'd only be dealing with domestic travel. There's supposed to be an incredible Manta Ray Night Dive in Kailua Kona!

Belize is also a great suggestion - you could visit the Great Blue Hole! It's also warm in Thailand and St. Lucia in January!

*IF* you can travel internationally, Singapore might actually be a good place to go - they've had a lot more success controlling the situation than other places.

That said, is there good scuba diving off the Florida Keys? Trying to think of things closer to home, as it were, in case travel is restricted.
