Weather concern

Taylor, on October 1, 2022 at 11:36 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16
I didn’t expect it to be in the 50s for my outdoor wedding next weekend 😅 I’m certainly not prepared for it, my bridesmaids aren’t and I don’t know if my guests are! My fiancé says not to worry yet because the weather can always change but I’m worried everyone will freeze

Where are you located? I know here in Pennsylvania we plan for it to be cold in October, but if you live somewhere not in the north then it makes sense why you didn't expect chilly weather. Is there an indoor option?

I live in NY and we’re getting married in maryland. I guess I just forgot how cold it can get in October! I was thinking 60s, not 50s so that’s my bad

We used to live in Maryland and I feel like the weather there is so unpredictable. What about shawls for yourself and bridesmaids?

October can be warm in the 70’s, but it’s gotten cold recently in NJ too.
Can you get some of those tall outside heaters?

Is your venue outdoors? Do you have anything set up in case of cold? Do you have an indoors option? I would start making some contingency plans now for sure!

Well you have a couple of options, see about moving it indoors, try to rent heaters like at restaurants to keep folks warm, have blankets as favors to keep people warm.

I'm sorry the weather has changed. If I were you, I'd head over to Amazon for a bridal shawl. You may want to look into outdoor heaters which can be rented. Try not to stress so you can enjoy you day. Congratulations!

Would you have room in your budget to get a tent with walls that can be zipped closed? Or if you cannot rent portable heaters, maybe you can purchase a few and ask if anyone would like to take them home after the wedding and split the cost 50/50.

I’m in the same boat. Checking the weather for my wedding on the 14th it’s gonna be 50s. I’m also in New York. And my dress has no sleeves. I had to buy a shawl and one for the flower girl. I heavily suggested it to my maid of honors as well

Yeah my dress is sleeveless. I bought a shawl and a white womens suit jacket to wear at night but I didn’t want to have to wear a shawl during pictures and the ceremony

I'd definitely echo renting some portable heaters and getting blankets for guests! If your ceremony isn't too long, do you think you could tough it out without a jacket (or have a heater nearby where you'll be standing)? You could keep the shawl or jacket on hand and take breaks to warm up when you're doing pictures.

My fiancé and I were just talking about this today. It's going to most likely be in the 50s for our wedding this Saturday. I got me and the bridesmaids some shawls, and I want to get some blankets for guests but he thinks that's doing too much and "if they choose to wear a t-shirt that's on them." The mom-friend in me can't imagine making people go cold, so I might just be ordering blankets lol. Thankfully only our ceremony is outdoors and the venue for the reception is fully heated.

I get married on 10/10 at an outdoor venue and the weather is supposed to be 74 degrees with a low of 47 that morning. The ceremony starts at 11am so hopefully it will start to warm up by the time guests arrive, but I love in GA so anything under 80 degrees is considered cold to most!

If you’re wedding party already happened, I hope everyone still had fun! If it hasn’t happened yet, make sure you have blankets or ponchos for all your guests and bridal party! I went to a wedding in September up on NH and the weather dropped to 40s 😂😂 absolutely no one was prepared, lucky the brides family had extra coats for some of us.
