Wearing wedding dress for stop-gap Covid-19 ceremony?

Rachel, on March 18, 2020 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I am devastated! My fiance and I have been planning our perfect wedding on March 28, 2020 for over a year and a half. But given the health concerns of everyone (rightfully so), we are being forced to postpone everything we had planned to September.

We are lucky to have the support of our families to help us plan a very small ceremony at my mom's house, so we can still be with our families on that day.

Since we do plan on having our ceremony and reception as originally planned, I am torn on if I should wear my dress for both ceremonies. I had a very clear image of how it would feel to walk down the aisle in front of everyone in my dress on the day. But, on the other hand, we were planning on doing a first look anyway, and that is something we can still do. Also, I specifically picked out that dress to be THE DRESS in which I become a wife.

Should I wear my dress both times?

That is something I am having to consider myself. My fiancé and I were going to get married on the 28th too. I’m thinking of getting a different reception dress but am so undecided. I can’t even decide if I want to go ahead & have a JOP wedding. Right now I am leaning towards waiting until the new date in October & getting a more Octobery/fall reception dress 😂

We thought about just waiting for everything until September, too. But we decided we can't wait to be married, and for that next step in our lives to start.

I’ve thought about this too. Our date is 4/26/20 and I’m not sure what we’re doing yet. If it were me I’d wear it both times, I personally love my dress and would enjoy getting to wear it twice. It’s all so hard.

We are getting married this Saturday and I plan on wearing my dress.

Like my step mom said, "How lucky are those brides that get to wear their dress TWICE?" and that really put it into perspective.

I'm going to wear it, I'm going to feel beautiful, and I'm going to enjoy our 15 minutes of fun ceremony time to just forget about everything and focus on how much we love each other and the fact that there's so much darkness right now but our love provides light!

Absolutely wear the dress both times! Don't you want to maximize its use? If I have to get married twice, I am wearing my dress at every opportunity (assuming it still fits after all my stress eating!) 🤣
