Wearing Rings on Honeymoon

CarrieQ, on May 7, 2014 at 8:24 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

Ok...I got no response so I am trying again.....Is it safe to wear your E-Ring on your honeymoon to the Caribbean? We are going to the Dominican Republic and I worried. Anyone ever have problems there or heard of problems?

I wouldn't. Not there. I've been there and I wouldn't wear any jewelry. Not trying to be mean. Just being honest.

I honestly think it depends. Are you going to an all inclusive resort where you are not leaving the property once you get there? If you are only traveling from the airport and back I think you will be fine. If you will be wandering around the DR I would probably leave your jewelry at home.

If you are going to an all inclusive well known reputable place you should be fine... if you are going to 3.5 start hotel...I wouldn't! Check out the resort on trip advisor, go through the last few months of reviews, if anyone posts about missing items, keep it at home.

He proposed to me a few days before our Cancun vacation and I wore mine, all was good.

Depends on where you're going. Go with your gut though! If you're really concerned, leave it locked up at home.

Don't take any expensive items that you plan to leave in the hotel unattended for long periods of time.

Do you plan on wearing the rings the whole time or taking them off when swimming, etc.? We're going to Europe for our honeymoon and FH doesn't want me to wear either ring. I got a fake one from WalMart for less than $10! I'll just wear that...it's good to have a fake one just in case!

You should be fine wearing it on the resort. I would suggest turning your engagement ring so the diamond is facing inward on the trip to and from the airport. If you don't like to wear it while you're swimming, at the beach, etc. then I would leave it home. I wouldn't want to leave it anywhere (including the room) while you're there.

I wore my engagement ring to Cancun and was fine, but I never took it off.

I would not wear my e-ring on a beach/tropical vacation. You are not supposed to wear it while swimming in a pool (chlorine is bad for the metal), and swimming in the ocean with it just scares me. So with all the on and off of the ring, I think it's just asking for trouble.

I would wear my band only, or even just some cheap everyday ring.

I bought a fake wedding set on Amazon for like $40 and I am going to wear that on our honeymoon and future trips. We're going to Grenada, which is supposed to be very low crime, but we are staying at a little resort rather than any big sprawling all-inclusive place, so I will feel safer with my rings at home. In the past, when I've been traveling and walking around, I will typically turn the ring around so the diamonds are hidden until I am at my destination.

I wore mine on my honeymoon in Punta Cana, DR. It was fine. We went on a boat excursion and I was nervous I might lose it in the ocean so I put it in the safe for that but I would have been fine. Everyone else had their rings on during that and it wasn't a big deal. Do what you feel comfortable doing. I didn't want to leave my ring behind and I have insurance so I felt fine about it.

Thank you for the responses. I'm thinking I'll leave it at home. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
