Wear dress to honeymoon?

KitKat, on April 2, 2009 at 4:07 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

Ok. So I was wondering if any of you are wearing your actual wedding dress to the honeymoon? My FI and I were thinking of having our honeymoon in Hawaii, but I'm not sure how the whole "wedding dress on the plane ride" thing would work out. But I've always imagined being carried through the door to our honeymoon with me in my dress and him in his tux. Any ideas/opinions?

If you DO wear your dress on the plane... you have WAY more patience than I have. The worst I ever look is on a plane (and the most comfortable). If this REALLY if something you have to do (being carried in the door and so on ...) I would just change into my dress once at the hotel in the lobby restroom. Most hotel restrooms are very nice and spotless (and roomy). If this is something you DON'T want to do, I would explain things to the hotel manager and see if they don't have somewhere you can change. Trust me, Im sure this wouldnt be the strangest thing they have ever been asked to do and Im sure they will be very accomidating. After all... you are dropping hundreds of dollars into their hands.

I don't think that most people wear their dress to the honeymoon. I've never heard of it before. You will probably be very uncomfortable especially if you have a large dress. Also, if you do have a puffy dress, think about the people who may sit next to you. I think the carried through the doorway thing is more when you first move into a house together. although its a romantic thought, i think by the time you are at hawaii you will just wanna get out of it. What my sister did was wear a shirt that said 'just married' (it was actually really cute). Its a good idea if you didn't book a honeymoon suite because they will sometimes upgrade you Smiley winking. also, I doubt your hubbie will wanna wear a tux on the plane. It will also be hard because most men rent their tuxs.

Not sure about the length of the plane ride from where you live, but I have relatives coming in for my wedding from Hawaii and their plane ride is going to be over 15 hours! I don't know what your dress is like, but I can't imagine sitting cramped in a plane for that long in a formal wedding gown. What about what some other people here have talked about and have a "get away dress"? A bride-like dress that is much more casual and comfortable.

Yeah. I kinda figured it would be a pretty big inconvienence to wear it on the plane and stuff. :[ (for me and other people)

I might end up doing the "Just Married" thing suggested. It sounded like a really good idea. Smiley smile

    Thanks for the responses!

Have you considered getting a hotel room for after your reception, then flying to Hawaii the next morning? That way you could still be carried through a threshold in your pretty dress, and you'd have a good night's sleep before hopping on the plane. Or was your heart set being carried through the threshold in Hawaii because that's where you are honeymooning? If that doesn't work for you I think the "Just Married" shirt is a cute idea ^^
