Ways to Support Your Vendors Post-wedding

Nicole, on November 25, 2020 at 12:14 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12
We all are aware of writing thank you notes, reviews, and word of mouth recommendations for our vendors after our celebrations, but have you thought of other ways to support your vendors after you are no longer a bride or groom? With 2020 being such a difficult year for wedding industry professionals, what are some ways you can help to support them even after you’re married?

Our photographers were, hands-down, the best vendor decision we made for our wedding. We’ve decided to help to continue to support them by doing anniversary shoots each year (or holiday shoots once the family grows). We’re also going to be purchasing a couples shoot as a Christmas gift for my sister and BIL who ended up not loving their wedding pictures.
We also already frequent our bakery for any cake, cupcake, cookie needs and will continue to do so, and plan on volunteering our time to help upkeep the grounds at our venue (historic museum) once they reopen in the future.
Do you have any other ideas on how to support your wedding vendors after your wedding day is over?

I would say you are already finding numerous ways to support them.

Sorry for the misunderstanding; not necessarily looking for advice! Just hoping to spur conversation on how as a “collective whole” we can support our awesome vendors even after we’re married.

It really got me thinking when the wife in my photographer team told me how she lost $20k in boudoir bookings from the shut-down. 😳 I hate the idea that small businesses are the knee hurting while the corporations get richer, so I was really trying to wrack my brain on how else I could support after the wedding.

I've continued to get florals from my florist on a monthly basis. We LOVE having fresh floral in our home.

This is so kind and thoughtful of you! I love these ideas, especially the poster who suggested getting florals from their florist every month. Our venue has a restaurant attached and we plan on frequenting it for special occasions.

    Amazing!!

Our venue is non profit and some of the things we will be purchasing that we will no longer need, we will be donating to them. Our coordinator actually mentioned that whatever is donated, normally they give back to the members that are working there which just warmed my heart!

Our photographer is so amazing. He's been patient and inclusive not just with our photo needs but with our well being. He checks up on us like a father to make sure things are going well. He even helped me with wedding day timeline lol. Like you, we will definitely be going to our photographer for any photos that we will need.

We hired a baker and although she hasn't made our cake yet, I've seen her work and she's incredible. As long as our cake comes out great, we'll be sure to stick with her until she moves or something lol. Anniversaries, baby shower, birthdays, etc.

These are awesome ideas! We live over 2 hours away from our venue so that’s going to be difficult. We do, however, support our local businesses. Especially the mom & pop restaurants!

I love that! Our florist is moving out of state, but maybe I’ll find a friend’s florist to help support.

These are all such great ideas!!

My fiance and I definitely plan to contact our current photographer whenever we need pictures done for future events (pictures for holiday cards, anniversaries, etc). We also plan to buy flowers from our florist for special occasions after our wedding. Our venue has a restaurant attached, and we definitely will go back there from time to time. Our cake baker makes quite a few treats other than cakes, so we can pick up a variety of desserts for potlucks, special occasions, etc. We haven't thought of a way to continue to support our DJ's business after the wedding (if anyone has any ideas, please let me know!!), but we've got ideas for pretty much all our other vendors.

I love it! The DJ is definitely a harder one. Definitely spread their information via word of mouth to anyone you know having an event (weddings, mitzvahs, graduations, etc). Did your DJ offer any other services other than music?

Good idea on recommending the DJ for graduations and such! They don't really offer anything else other than music (and uplighting), but I do follow them on social media and I try to interact with their posts.
