Walk down the aisle song help

Liz, on April 8, 2021 at 9:19 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
I've narrowed my list to two songs to walk down the aisle too, and I can't make a decision.

Beautiful in White- Westlifehttps://youtu.be/XRuDQ6aYeD0 Or Testify - NEEDTOBREATHE https://youtu.be/0gOvNIoRUeg
Pros and Cons: BIW is very obviously meant to be a bridal entrance song with hints of pachabels cannon and the wedding march in the music (FH really likes this aspect and this is the song he wants). Lyrics are nice and fitting up to the part where it starts talking about having children. FH and I don't want anymore children but that part of the song doesn't come in until 2:30 into it. Which seems like a long time, but the aisle is REALLY long. The song talking about me being beautiful makes me uncomfortable from a self worth stand point. Testify- was written by a Christian rock band about God, however neither of us are Christian and are more on the atheist side. I still think the lyrics are fitting for the wedding ceremony. Song is faster paced which may be awkward for a walk down the aisle, and FH doesn't care for it because of the Christian undertones. For additional information,, My 10 year old daughter will be escorting me down the aisle. The wedding party will be walking down to; Stand By Me - Tracy Chapman https://youtu.be/8XL6C3vY0jM.

I'd time your walk out first, then go from there. I personally would stay away from the second song since your FH has already expressed that he doesn't care for it. Which leaves you with BIW.

Since the children part doesn't start until 2:30, I think you'll be fine. People don't realize how slow time goes by when you're walking down an aisle or have the attention on you lol. So I think if you practice the timing, you'll be able to get down the aisle before that part hits. If you can't, you can always ask your DJ to edit that part out, which is very doable!

My FH is fine if I choose the Testify song, it's growing on him, he just prefers BIW whereas I prefer Testify. If he was 100% opposed I wouldn't even consider it, it's both of our days and both of our moments for the walk down the aisle.

I gotcha. If it were me, and FH and I aren't overly religious, I'd still go with BIW. Just because you both aren't religious and that song's history doesn't sound like it matches you both as a couple. I also looked up both songs' lyrics, which is also why I would go with BIW! The lyrics just have more of a love and wedding feel to me, whereas I can def. sense the Christian undertones in Testify.

Have you thought about doing an instrumental version of either song to get away from some of the lyrics??

I think Beautiful in White (Westlife) is a really great processional choice. It's a beautiful song and I think you can probably get down the aisle before the 2:30 mark!
