Vows: personal or repeat after me.

My fiancé has major anxiety about speaking in front of crowds, so we are not going to do personalized vows. Instead, we will be writing our feelings in letters to one another & exchanging them the day of our wedding. Then we will do the “repeat after me” vows during our ceremony.

We started with vows we wrote to each other, then the Minister gave the traditional vows that we repeated. ❤

We are doing our own vows but will write them together. So we will say the same vows but not in a repeat after me format.

We wrote our own vows, but our state also required us to say traditional vows in order to be legally married so we said both.

We did personal vows

We will be doing personal vows. FH doesn't care for the spotlight so I'm actually surprised he's willing to do it. I'm super excited.

We wrote our vows together but we said them repeat after me style. I would highly recommend going this route.
Other people commented on how much they liked them, but I still would've been happy if we got no, or negative, feedback. The vows are the most important part of the ceremony, but they're also the most personal. They should be meaningful to you and your partner, but it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks because you're not marrying anyone else.
My opinion on your vows definitely doesn't matter, but fwiw, when I have not liked the vows at weddings I've been to, it's because they weren't really vows. It might seem sweet for you to spend three minutes telling your person why you love them, but if you don't make any promises during your vows, you're kind of doing it wrong.

We did kind of a half and half where we repeated the vows but they were ones that we sat down and wrote together for what we wanted our marriage to be based on.
