Vow renewal

A courthouse ceremony actually is a wedding and by saying it’s not, it’s disrespectful to those who prefer that over a traditional full blown ceremony and reception with lots of guests.


For a renewal, you can do anything you want. But because you don’t need to sign or file any legal paperwork, then you don’t need to hire an officiant. Because you can ask a friend who is great at public speaking. But if you do want an officiant, be very clear with them that you are having a vow renewal. That way, they avoid any potential risk of fraud where they will lose their ability to work in the future if they file a license under false pretenses, due to semantics when the couple insists they are having a wedding where a license needs to be filed if that has been done before and cannot be repeated.
