Virtual Wedding Help Needed

April, on May 11, 2020 at 11:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hello all!

What a crazy time its been, am I right?? Our original wedding date was March 28, and we postponed to June 6. We have decided to go forward with our wedding on June 6, but only have our parents there in person and have the ceremony live streamed for the rest of our guests.

I am having a really hard time finding examples of invitation wording and etiquette for a "virtual" wedding. Here is what I currently have. I was thinking of adding a back side (i'm doing all of this through Paperless Post) encouraging people to get dressed up and make a drink etc. But I'm not very creative and I'm having trouble thinking of the right wording. Has anyone else done a virtual wedding? Any help or tips are much appreciated!

I actually think just saying virtual wedding sounds fine

What about Live Stream or telecast, broadcast?
I know virtual is now becoming synonymous with online, but I keep also thinking of its definition of almost or nearly as described, but not completely or according to strict definition.
"the virtual absence of border controls". And also the definition of not physically existing but only on computer software.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I would stick to Online or Live Stream Wedding.

    I'm going to third this.

The younger generations would likely get the newer definition of "virtual" but livestream might sound better.

Another one agreeing with this! I like live stream. Virtual sounds like it won't be real. And this is coming from a millennial Smiley xd . I just think live stream will be understood by everyone across all age groups.

I think I'm technically in the millennial generation as well. But the millennials know more about "virtual reality" games and they're definitely still equated with "not real". In teaching right now, we might refer to the "virtual classroom" but we say "online" or "remote" learning, not virtual learning. Ain't the English language interesting?

Maybe "joyfully invite you to their wedding via live stream"

I totally agree. I think we will go with live stream instead! Thanks!
