Virginia Brides!!!

Taren, on January 6, 2021 at 1:12 PM Posted in Virginia Planning 4 59

We are scheduled to have our ceremony on April 23, 2021 in VA Beach, Va. Right now we are told the restrictions are no more than 10 people (indoor and outdoor). The Gov. is supposed to make a decision at the end of the month whether to lift this restriction or continue. I am in panic mode and really don't want to postpone. Are there any VA brides and what are your plans?

Not getting married but I live in MD. How many are invited? Knowing this region, I would not expect a significant difference by April. VA was the only state out of MD, DC and VA, which increased the gathering limitations above 50 even through the summer. The limit may be increased to 25-50 by April, but I wouldn't expect it much higher than that.

We are planning to have about 50. We’re thinking about postponing to July, but with this new strand, we just don’t know!!

My husband and I are already married, but we live in MD and I'm currently pregnant and my OB said she thinks the restrictions will be in place through summer if not longer and that was before the new strand was heard about. My husband works in DC and his company's headquarters is in VA and they instituted a travel ban back in July and they have no plans on lifting it anytime soon. Sadly, I'm not sure if July will even be far enough way for restrictions to ease up.

Hey girl! Last summer, Governor Northam allowed weddings of less than 250 people from July through October. I think that he will definitely raise the limit above 10 before your wedding date, however you will have no idea what the guest count limit will be when you send your invitations.... for this reason, we decided to postpone our wedding from 5/1/21 to 7/30/21!! Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

Maryland did have a higher gathering limit above 50people at one point, mainly because our governor usually does percentages for the most part rather than strict guest numbers.

Taren, I think it depends on your guest count. If you're having around 50 guests than I feel like that could happen. I'm in Maryland and we had our minimony indoors in October with 35guests, because of the room capacity we were allowed 50. Our big wedding is scheduled for March 2021 and with current restrictions we are allowed around 80guests indoors. Our venue holds 300+ so with the 25% gathering limit our venue said e cannot go over 80 as of right now.

Counties have imposed lower limits. Montgomery County never went above 50 people, so it's also important to look at county limits. Plus, the Heath Department has issued advisory lowering the limit to 10 people currently. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see a significant change in the restrictions for at least a few months esp. due to recent surges caused by the holidays and other events. By April the limit may be higher, but there's no way to predict in time to plan IMO. Good luck OP.

Our wedding date is firmly set for April 10th, in his parents ginormous backyard which will allow for social distancing. We are continuing with our date as planned..

My original wedding date was Dec 19th 2020, we found out 3 weeks before that the restrictions went to 25 people. Then it dropped to 10 people.

My husband and I had a small private parents only ceremony instead and moved our reception to April.

We are keeping our date in April and seeing where things stand a few weeks before the date.

We are getting married April 17th. We live right outside of Richmond. We opted to forgo a venue. We will have a simple ceremony on our churches property the have an old barn converted in to an event space. The tent sides roll up so if we need to space people out we can. Then we will just have a huge backyard party after. We will provide masks hand sanitizer etc bought cute little labels on them too.

We are 3/27 in Richmond, VA and are currently on standby until we hear something at the end of the month. We have basically accepted we more than likely won’t be having our 125 person wedding but we are hopeful for at least 25-50 if they hopefully increase the numbers on the 31st!

Our wedding is scheduled for April 11th. So far, we are continuing to plan as if it is going to happen, but we are going to review that decision when Gov. Northam hopefully updates us in the beginning of February. Considering during phase 3 last summer and fall, gatherings of 250 were allowed, I’m trying to remain hopeful!

Also we realize not everyone will attend and we will respect their wishes. Even if I have to have KFC delivered to my house its going down lol. I just want to be surrounded by great food, dance and party with my friends the rest really doesn't matter to me.

Hello! I’m in Hampton and my fiancé is in Virginia Beach but we’re getting married in Smithfield on May 21. We’re still planning as if it will happen but are on standby for any new restrictions later on. My fiancé is ready to just go to the courthouse, lol. But we are nervous and anxious, but still excited and happy to be getting married.

We had a call with our coordinator this week. Our wedding is March 13, 2021 and we are still holding onto hope. We made a contingency plan to decrease our size from 120 to 75 and wrote a note to our guests to RSVP sooner rather than later so we know who would fit into our 75 count.

We are offering a streaming of the ceremony now for those uncomfortable to physically attend/going to buy masks and hand sanitizer and our coordinator told us that we are OK to make a final postpone or not decision come mid-February after new regulations are known.
We have been working really close with all our vendors to make sure that we still can work with them in the morning event our wedding is postponed!
I was paranoid to have to make a decision before mandates were known, but our coordinator put us at ease.
    Hope this helps!Alyssa

I’m getting married the weekend before in April 16th. It’s an outdoor wedding with 100. Although we are sure some people will not attend, and that’s okay! We plan are still planning to proceed as normal. I’m trying to not freak out too much and worry until the wedding venue and my planner calls me and says otherwise! We are waiting to see what the Governor says and go from there. I’m hopeful with the vaccine and it still being a few months out that we might be okay. If not we will just have to comply and go with the flow! It’s definitely scary and has my anxiety going. But at the end of the day it’s in Gods hands!
