Videography

We are struggling with the thought of hiring a videographer. How many of you have hired one or if you are married already do you regret not having one? If you did have one how many times have you watched the actual video? We love the idea of having one but we are paying for our wedding ourselves so anything we can save on is bonus!

I did and it was 100% worth it. With our video and all the raw footage we got, there are so many things photos don't capture. I can see my husband taking a deep breath as I walked down the aisle. I can see my cousins teaching each other silly dance moves while I was in the bathroom. I can see my great aunt, who probably won't be with us much longer. I can see my parents crying while having a slow dance. The day goes by so fast and you will miss so much. Without video, those moments are gone forever. With it, you can re-live your day as much as you want and show it to future generations. We've watched the short and long versions of the video many times. To me it was worth every penny.

Omg, I watch it at least once a month, honestly! We got a videographer that was just starting his business after breaking away from a larger company. (Recommended to us by our photographer) I JUST wanted the ceremony, as I was tucked away in the bridal room until it was time for me to walk the walk. My adorable hubby totally forgot he was miked up, and his comments to my son (the best man) are just too precious!! "It's her turn now, right?" "Maybe she ran out on me. No, just kidding. Right?" "Look- she's glowing. Isn't she beautiful? Wow, is this really happening?" are some of the classics that come to mind. ~sigh~ (it also picks up my oldest son, who gave me away, telling hubs "she's all yours!" when he hugged him 😆 )
So - long story short - find room in the budget. It is worth the money.

It was worth it for us. Even though we’ve only watched the clips a few times, we both come from families who prioritized home movies with camcorders so it made sense to capture video of of our own wedding for posterity because photos don’t capture someone’s voice or mannerisms before they pass away and memories fade. We skimmed through various videographers to find a style that we were happy with and willing to pay for the talent that went into it.

We didn’t have one, and I don’t regret it. A photographer was one thing, but I would’ve felt very awkward with a video camera around. Most people I know who’ve gotten one watched the video once and never again, so it didn’t seem worth the expense to me.
