Sunny, on November 3, 2022 at 9:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Just wanted to get y’all’s thoughts/experiences with having or not having a videographer? Any regrets not having one? Or love the video so much you couldn’t live without it??
Thanks in advance Smiley smile

We initially weren't going to book a videographer, but when we postponed due to COVID, we changed our minds. We are now SO glad we booked a videographer! This is because after the wedding day is over, the only things that remaining are the memories and the photos/videos, and after watching some of the example videos from our videographer, we realized that film captures some things that photos do not. The movement of my dress during the first dance, the sound of my MOH's voice as she gives her speech, walking down the aisle with my husband, etc. Also, in the case of one of my family members, her photos did not turn out the way she hoped, but she LOVES her wedding video. However, I also know some people who did not book a videographer and they are totally happy without one. If it's in your budget and you think you want one, I'd recommend it!

Worth every penny! You are so busy on your wedding day that a lot of it ends up being a blur. It is so nice to have the videos to go back and watch. If I had to do it all over again, I would still hire our videographer, even if it meant cutting some things out to make it happen.

I originally didn’t think I wanted videography, but now that we have a video montage of the day, I can’t imagine not have it to look back on. If you’re short on budget, it’s not a deal breaker but if you have room in the budget, I highly recommend. Sometimes your photographer will offer videography and can bring an assistant for it instead of another costly contract

I think it is better to go with it! It is always better to be over-prepared than underprepared.

THIS! We didn't really remember much about our best man/maid of honor speeches, or even each other's private vows because so much was happening that day, so it was nice to be able to go back and rewatch those moments. Also, my grandpa hasn't been in the best health, so having video of him giving a blessing is something i'll cherish forever.

Of the 4 weddings I've been in who chose videographers none of them have watched the wedding video more than once. I think it's worth thinking about if you're the type of person who will re-watch on an anniversary or show friends and family frequently. I am not doing videography, except for someone filming the ceremony on their phone, because I know I'm the type of person to watch it once and never look at it again.

I personally prefer the video over photos. i feel like it makes more sense to me to watch a 3 minute video i have on youtube more than scrolling through hundreds and hundreds of photos.
