Venue

Finding a venue within my budget is absolutely stressful! I feel like everybody wants an arm and a leg just for one day! I really want to have my ceremony outside and the reception in a barn but at this point I don’t care where the reception is held. Does anybody know of some cheap venues? SOS!

Without knowing where the wedding will be taking place it is difficult to make a recommendation. Also what we consider cheap you might think is expensive. I will say barn weddings are insanely popular so the cost of them reflects that. Your best option if you don't want to spend a lot of money is going to be to pick a non-traditional wedding venue.

Hi Tiffany - 100% agree with the post above. Location is necessary to help provide recommend. Barn venues are crazy expensive in the Texas area, but you may be able to reduce the cost if you’re willing to get married on a week day.

Getting Married on a weekday would be your best option or having a Sunday brunch. I'm in IL (Chicago Suburbs) and am getting married on a Sunday - the rental for the barn space is $3,500 (all day) and there was an option for a brunch menu at $60 per person for food/drink (open bar) versus the normal cheapest food option $100 per person. But like everyone else said, it depends on your location. Some venues out by me were like 10k just to rent the place!

Barns are incredibly trendy right now and command a high price simply because of high demand. Have you considered other more affordable options like a community park, local garden, conservatory, etc.? Those might all give you a beautiful space to have an outdoor event. Also consider planning your wedding during non-peak times (typically December-March) and potentially on a Friday or Sunday to avoid Saturday premiums. Good luck!

Venue shopping made me cry! I second AJ: a weekday is typically cheaper, and a brunch is cheaper than dinner.

I live in Florida I booked my Barn House Venue in Off Season and on a Sunday it saved me $2,000 on the venue. So if you are flexible with your date might be something to look into.

I see you're looking at a barn venue in fall, in our area summer and fall are peak times for barn venues and since they've become more popular recently they book up quickly and aren't always cheap. If you're still looking for outside you could see if a park with a pavilion is available. The option to find a day that is less popular than a Saturday is also a good idea.

We picked a barn venue that is $4,000 for Saturday and ended up spending $10,000 to book the whole weekend so we could get in Friday to decorate.

Take a look at eventective.com and search for ones allowing outside catering. Also parks department owned venues.

Outside is not necessarily cheaper! Backyard of someone you know, Places that are not known as wedding venues, concert halls, museums, public parks. Also not having it on a Saturday will help too. Any other days will be cheaper. Everything is so out of control expensive now!

I realized I forgot to put the location, I’m not use to having a social media where everyone can see my posts. I’m not an open person on social media either so those I do have on my others are very close to me. I’m trying to keep my wedding in Massachusetts

Where in Massachusetts and how many guests? If it’s a small wedding (under 100) or if you’re willing to have tents for over 100, there is a place called the 228 in sterling, Ma. The inside looks very barn like and they have a large outdoor space with a fire pit and gazebo and patio areas. We’re using them this upcoming Saturday. Reasonable price, under 2k for us but we have a small guest list, about 60 people.

Barns are very hot right now so very expensive. I’d recommend considering a Friday or Thursday wedding if you’re heart is set on a more pricey location. Otherwise, someone suggested to me looking into historic buildings in your area or town that might have discounts for residents using them as a venue.
